Job Description

Our direct financial services client has an opening for a Technical Project Manager in Montreal, Canada.

Description:

This position is for a Technical Project Manager role, and the ideal candidate will have had hands‑on, large scale (5,000+ sq. ft.) datacenter build‑out, infrastructure deployment and migration experience. The consultant will be performing project support for a specific datacenter build program that involves build and migration activity in multiple locations.

The Technical Project Manager for this role:

  • Is a project stakeholder, and partners with engineering and operations teams across technology disciplines for success
  • Is a team player with a high level of commitment and enthusiasm
  • Shapes strategy
  • Has excellent project scheduling and estimation skills
  • Creates the project plan
  • Gathers and documents requirements
  • Matrix‑manages core project team
  • Executes plan where applicable
  • Schedules work and negotiates work windows where applicable
  • Monitors scheduled work where applicable
  • Escalates technical and procedural issues where applicable
  • Defines/revises operational processes where applicable
  • Defines/revises policies where applicable
  • Delivers management reports and presentations
  • Creates and/or updates technical documentation where applicable
  • Is responsible for budgeting/cost analysis/funding requests
  • Is responsible for resource planning where applicable
  • Is responsible for data analysis where applicable
  • Is responsible for cross‑disciplinary coordination
  • Leads project roadshows and technology forums where applicable
  • Helps manage Business Unit communication where applicable
  • Maintains precise, accurate and timely meeting documentation to fulfill audit and regulatory requirements
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

  • College graduate with extensive experience (at least 10 years) managing complex/large IT projects
  • Large‑scale datacenter (5,000+ sq. ft.) build‑out experience
  • Windows and Linux infrastructure deployment experience
  • SAN and NAS infrastructure deployment experience
  • Network infrastructure deployment experience
  • Proficiency in standard business productivity tools (MS Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Proficiency in standard project management tools (MS Project, Visio, Excel)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Well versed in the project lifecycle and Project Management methodologies
  • Ability to work in a geographically dispersed team, self‑starter
  • Display strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of leading projects at times of change
  • Able to demonstrate bringing teams together toward a common goal who are not directly reporting to the project manager
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work in a high pressure environment while juggling multiple tasks
  • Demonstrate good time management, ability to prioritize tasks and to meet deadlines across multiple projects
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels and influence others
  • Thorough knowledge of PMI approach and application in industry

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree.
