Eligibility:

Must beCanadian citizen, permanent resident or holding approved refugee status, and18 to 30 years old only

Location:Brantford, Ontario

HousingOptional rental (furnished suite). We may be able to help you with reduced rental costs, relocating and/or travel.

Have you helped with the administration of a not profit organization before?

Are you handy, a Jill or Jack of all trades, with skills to help with restoring our rural community hall and caring for the grounds?

We are a small, not for profit organization that own theLangford Schoolhouse, and provides outreach to farmers, with a special focus on ecological farmers. We have provided outreach projects including

  • ecotourism (birding, accessible farmstay, accessible cycling),
  • farmland protections (expanding the Greenbelt, conservation projects on farms, land trusts),
  • food rescue and redistribution,
  • local historical research and open house, and
  • fostering an inclusive community (outreach to migrant farm workers, seniors, newcomers).
  • We are founding members of Lynden Friends of Migrant Farm Workers.

We operate the Langford Schoolhouse as an accessible rural community hub, with a certified kitchen. The Langford Schoolhouse has an array of solar panels that produce energy that we feed into the grid. We are also working to qualify as a rural historical museum.

Job Description:

You would be involved in helping with the following:

  • Administration,
  • renovations to the Schoolhouse (repairing foundation, installing siding, carpentry, painting),
  • assisting with application to become a museum,
  • Planning and promotion of events and workshops (outreach to farmers and landowners, newcomers and seniors, local community),
  • Social media,
  • caring for the Schoolhouse and grounds (cleaning, bookings, lawn, and tree care),
  • food rescue and redistribution, and

We are seeking someone who is fit, highly motivated and a team player. We will provide mentoring and work with you.
