WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Data & Architecture team (DAS) undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to improve technology management and architectural governance across the organization.

In this role, you will focus on bringing together cross-functional teams to facilitate and define the QTS architecture and data strategic vision and articulate technology standards. This role will help to drive the project management for key complex initiatives, responsibilities will include strategic planning, aligning projects to strategic objectives, project communications (such as status reports) & architecture presentation creation, governance process management, and other internal communications.

The position is an Associate Director level role based in Toronto reporting into the Head of Architecture Strategy & Business management & Governance and involves working closely with teams in New York, Toronto, and London.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Manage, plan and directing activities across teams and stakeholders to deliver a strategic vision, track project progress, to support the achievement of organizational goals
  • Strong communication skills with ability to work with various stakeholders and partners to articulate, measure and solve issues
  • Identifying and anticipating issues that may impact project progress, timelines, reporting and communications
  • Develop regular status reports and architecture update presentations for various stakeholder audiences, executives, business units and project teams
  • Ensuring information flows effectively among working groups, steering committees, executive and domain experts, includes managing project documentation on confluence/SharePoint sites
  • Preparing minutes, meeting agenda & materials, including reporting on scorecards/KPIs, and governance documentation
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies and plans – includes writing, newsletters, success decks, presentations and organizing town halls and learning sessions
  • Ensuring coordination among with QTS teams, and QTS Data & Architecture team members – facilitating communication, collaboration and teamwork

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to understand the big picture and align project goals to DAS and RBC’s strategic objectives
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
  • Strong organizational, project planning & management and time management capabilities.
  • A strong understanding of technology and financial services industry with aptitude to build domain knowledge and management skillset
  • Demonstrated ability to foster strong working relationships across functional teams, and acting with diplomacy.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience managing project delivery, understanding of various activities to manage project execution details
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills - ability to organize internal events, such as learning sessions
  • Ability to facilitate meetings with key decision makers
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
