Job Summary:

CSA Group has an immediate opportunity for a Project Manager in the Alternative Energy Vehicles Program. In this challenging and rewarding role, you will interact with leading experts within the transportation technology and low carbon fuel sectors to facilitate discussions amongst key interest groups and develop leading edge solutions to help drive forward our mission.

CSA Group standards are developed by volunteer members through an accredited process. The standards are used by a broad base of interest groups to help enhance safety, security and sustainability for people and business.

The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of codes, standards, and guidelines within the Alternative Energy Vehicles Program, which covers natural gas and hydrogen powered vehicles, battery electric vehicles (EVs), connected and automated vehicles, and intelligent transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

As a Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Overseeing all aspects of assigned projects within the program area. The role emphasizes management, leadership and soft skills, however requires the ability to speak to complex subjects as a credible professional.
2. Establishing timelines for project activities, determining project resource requirements (e.g. funding, personnel support), and assembling overall project schedules.
3. Utilizing strong business acumen and planning skills to determine and manage the resources (time, budget, quality, etc.) required to complete the project.
4. Developing and maintaining relationships with key interest groups (academia, regulators, industry, etc.).
5. Promoting and improving committee efficiency, evaluating member performance and taking action as required.
6. The management of standards development activities in existing areas, as well as conducting business development initiatives to expand the portfolio into new areas of the Program.
7. Consulting with clients and other areas of CSA Group’s business to support development of standards and impact of standards.
8. Liaising with clients, management, Legal and Finance to compose proposals, contracts, and financial analysis for new projects.

Education:

1. Bachelor’s or technical degree in related area. Advanced degree is highly desirable.
2. Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.

Experience:

1. 3-5 years of experience in Standards Development and/or Project Management.
2. Minimum 3 years of experience in the alternative energy and/or transportation industry is an asset.
3. Knowledge of relevant standards industry, regulatory environment, government policy, industry landscape, and funding programs/models is an asset.
4. Experience working with volunteers and/or multi-interest groups would be an asset.
5. Experience in writing and presenting business and project proposals.
