Position Summary

Volatus Aerospace is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join our team, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This position plays a key operational role in planning, executing, and delivering global RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) projects across Volatus's operational and technical divisions. It's an ideal role for a detail-oriented and results-driven professional with experience managing complex projects in the aerospace, aviation, or defense sectors. The role focuses on operational excellence, risk mitigation, and stakeholder management to ensure successful project delivery to our clients and partners. The successful candidate will thrive in fast-paced environments, excel at teamwork, and bring a problem-solving mindset. This role is based in Vaughan and may require occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Develop detailed project plans, define scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines, and coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure effective execution, progress tracking, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  2. Work closely with engineering, operations, compliance, and sales teams to facilitate communication, resolve conflicts, and guide team members during project execution.
  3. Utilize established project management methodologies, tools, and techniques to manage projects, ensuring adherence to scope, KPIs, and reporting standards.
  4. Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, expense tracking, and resource allocation.
  5. Conduct timely risk assessments, identify potential barriers, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines, budgets, quality, and compliance.
  6. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, such as customers, regulatory bodies, suppliers, and partners, to manage expectations and communicate project updates.
  7. Develop and implement risk management measures to ensure project success.
  8. Prepare project status reports, document activities, and maintain records, including lessons learned and best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  9. Provide updates to senior management on performance metrics, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  10. Conduct post-project reviews to evaluate performance and implement improvements.
  11. Assist in developing and submitting proposals, RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs, ensuring alignment with customer needs and company capabilities.
  12. Collaborate with sales to understand client requirements and incorporate them into project plans.
  13. Act as the primary contact for customers and partners, managing relationships and communication regarding project status and outcomes.
  14. Support the creation of presentations for potential clients.
  15. Ensure all customer-facing projects meet expectations, maintain satisfaction, and adhere to regulations, standards, and safety protocols. Address concerns promptly.
  16. Contribute to organizational initiatives and special projects aligned with Volatus Aerospace's strategic goals.

Required Skills :

  • Relevant university degree or technical certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience, preferably in aerospace or technology sectors.
  • Knowledge of RPAS regulatory frameworks (e.g., Transport Canada, FAA, CAA, EASA) is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex concepts simply and effectively.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan and execute projects aligned with client needs and business goals.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with change management and performance measurement methodologies.
  • Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Jira, and Visio.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with a solutions-oriented approach.
