We are recruiting a Project Manager for a 16 month contract who has the primary focus of the role will involve managing orders for supply of Alfa Laval solutions to a wide range of applications and customers in Canada. The role will be responsible for the successful and timely execution of orders of moderate to high complexity, from the time of sale to delivery and commissioning covering all aspects including commercial and technical. The role is primarily office based, liaisoning with customers, order fulfilment, sales, logistics, factory and E&S teams as required to ensure successful completion of the project.

Key tasks will include:

  • -Working in conjunction with Sales and Order Fulfilment, manage the execution of selected capital and aftersales orders until hand over to the customer, including deliver and commissioning of Alfa Laval equipment including decanters, high speed separators, welded heat exchangers, plate & frame heat exchangers, and any other products assigned.
  • Review customer purchase orders and our offer to check for any gap or non-compliance.
  • Provide support to local management by being the primary point of contact to the customer and accomplishing the overall project goals in terms of quality, time and cost.
  • Coordinating between factories and customers to ensure technical compliance by getting the technical documentation as per project specification from factories and negotiating the same with customers.
  • Coordinating manufacturing inspection points between factories and customers.
  • Conducting regular meetings with factories and customers to follow-up and expedite on order progress to ensure timely delivery.
  • Updating local management on current project status, highlighting critical issues including project delays, technical disputes, payments, etc.

Key competencies will include:

  • Technically well-versed in the design and application of core Alfa Laval products such as decanters, heat exchangers, centrifuges and pumps.
  • Able to spot design issues and easily understand customer complaints to seek appropriate solutions from the right parties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to express ideas clearly in both written and verbal form.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of contract management, the order-to-cash value stream, and document control.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED

Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:

  • A degree in Engineering, technical diploma or equivalent work experience
  • PMP Certification would be considered an asset

Type and Length of Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience dealing with projects involving the delivery of industrial equipment
