Breck specializes in major projects at heavy industrial plants and is experienced in long-term maintenance, boiler inspections, shutdowns, expansions, and upgrading. Breck’s head office is in Saskatoon and currently has satellite offices in Regina and St. George, Ontario.

Position Overview :

The Project Manager position is a permanent full-time position. This position will be responsible for ensuring work is completed on time, on budget, and in accordance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements. They will also support project execution objectives and act as the primary position for construction, cost, and schedule issues. They will ensure that the technical requirements of the project are understood and achieved.

Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for all functions relating to the management of a construction project, from start up to completion.
  • Develop and promote a site culture of safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead project-related meetings including progress, environmental, safety, quality, and other meetings as requested.
  • Interact with contractor construction management team daily to proactively address issues and overcome challenges.
  • Identify, communicate, and document project risks in the risk register.
  • Relay estimates to client.
  • Direct the change management process.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress reports as required.
  • Participate in schedule and milestone development and tracking.
  • Identify and communicate social risks to the site security lead.
  • Ensure construction deficiency lists are generated and plans prepared to address deficiencies.
  • Lead commissioning and turnover to operations.
  • Lead project close out including claims resolution and lessons learned.
  • Lead / facilitate construction kick-off meetings with all contractors and internal stakeholders ensuring proper documented exchange of information and documented safety orientation.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum five years of previous experience as a project manager, construction manager within the industrial construction sector.
  • Recognized certificate, diploma, or degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • High level negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must possess leadership, organizational, supervisory skills, as well as the ability to work with and through others to ensure that the desired results are received.
  • Analytical skills and knowledge necessary to identify opportunities and make recommendations for improvements based on a solid understanding of the business and competitive landscape and market trends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Project Management software (P6).
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License - preference will be given to candidates with a clean driving record (driving abstract is required).

Working Conditions :

  • Travel to / from / within various jobsites.
  • Travel across Canada when required.
  • May be required to work outside regular work hours.
  • Daily exposure to construction environment (heavy equipment, inclement weather, etc.).
