Job description

Reporting to theManager,Projects, theProject Manageris responsible forthe successfuldelivery ofprojects.This includesplanning and executing projectswithin PRPA’s project framework and ensuring thatfinalproject deliverablesalign with PRPA’s strategic goals and corporate values.

The Project Manager willbe responsible forleading project teams that may include resources from other PRPA departments,as well asoverseeing theworkconducted byexternalconsultants,contractorsand other vendors.In addition, theProject Manager willbe responsible forreporting onproject progress for the purposes of general communication as well asperiodic corporate reports.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Manages the planning and implementation of projects, usingtheirexpertise,knowledgeand in-house experience tofacilitatean effective and sound definition of project scopes,goalsand deliverables.
  • Liaises with, and involves tenants and stakeholders, including Indigenous Communities,in the development of project scopes, goals and deliverables.
  • Participates in the tendering process, including evaluation of bidders’ technical qualifications,as well as the awarding of work to the winning bidder.
  • Assistswith contracts and contract negotiations.
  • Manages internal and external project’s staff, including consultants and sub-contractors as well as project resourcedallocations.
  • Monitors capital projects and ensures compliance with design, cost, schedule, project changes, and final acceptance.
  • Plans and schedules project timelines as well as prepares reports defining project progress,problemsand solutions.
  • Ensures that project documentation and updated record drawings are filed following PRPA’s protocol.
  • Ensures that all technical information relatingto newly installed andacquiredassets is entered into the preventive maintenance software following PRPA’s protocol (i.e. manufacturer, capital cost, specifications, preventive maintenance schedule,etc.).
  • Ensures that maintenance personnel are provided with theappropriate trainingon operating andmaintainingnew assets through the original contractual agreements.
  • Uses various software (mainly AutoCAD) andassistsin developing designs, including but not limited to port infrastructure, layouts, and schematics.
  • Continuestheirprofessional development by keeping abreast withnew technologies, methodologies,processesand technical information relating to port infrastructure,equipmentand systems.
  • Performs any other duties as directed by theManager,Projects.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Works in an office environment and in the field (outdoors, land and water, remote or wilderness settings, all weather).
  • Regular, full-time position (37.5 hoursper week).Regular working hours are Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM witha 1-hourlunch break (unpaid).
  • May berequiredto work outside regular work hours.
  • Occasionaltravel.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Formal Education
  • University Degree inarelevantengineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Engineer in Training (EIT) or engineer eligible for registration withEngineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • Technologists with suitable experience will also be considered.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is anasset.

The base salary range for this role is $107,936-$134,919. This position is eligible for a performance-based variable incentive targeted at 15% of the base salary.
