Job description

About GHGSat:
GHGSat offers greenhouse gas detection, measurement, and monitoring services to industrial and government customers around the world. We use our own satellites and aircraft sensors, combined with third-party data, to help industrial emitters better understand, control, and reduce their emissions.

GHGSat’s capability is unique: The company provides high-resolution, local measurements of atmospheric methane and carbon dioxide concentration from space. This further provides the company means to detect greenhouse gas emitters and to visualize and quantify their emissions.

Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Project Manager will have a direct impact on helping GHGSat to become the global reference for remote sensing of greenhouse gas (GHG), air quality gas, and other trace gas emissions from any source in the world.

As Project Manager, you will be expected to execute the following functions:

  • Plan projects based on work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, risk management, and the use of project management software tools.
  • Coordinate project activities, resources, equipment, and information to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Coordinate a cross-functional team of developers, engineers, scientists, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment conducive to high productivity and innovation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders regarding project progress, issues, and resolutions.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities effectively to senior management.
  • Lead technical reviews (e.g. Kick-off Meeting, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Systems Requirements Review) and program evaluations.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, invoicing, and receipts.
  • Perform programmatic analysis and reporting internally and, on occasion, with customers.
  • Function effectively in an environment where tight deadlines and a high level of pressure are the norm.
  • Manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Support proposal activities that require software development work packages by helping in the definition and scoping of the required work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, Administration, Computer Science, or similar
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in project management within a software development or IT environment
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects from initiation to completion
  • Must be able to obtain Canadian government security clearances (Industrial Security Program and Canadian Controlled Goods Program)
  • Fluently bilingual (oral and written French and English)

Desirable:

  • Formal training in Project Management obtained at university, or any other applicable training in Project Management, or a recognized project management certification (PMP Certification)
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes and their relation to project life cycle.
  • Competitive salary + stock options for all full-time employees
  • Health/Dental benefits
  • Paid Time Off + floating statutory holidays
  • Flexible work environment
