IPECC, as a Project Management Service Provider (PMSP), supports its clients in managing their projects.

IPECC is seeking a Project Manager with construction expertise responsible for implementing a broad range of capital renovation projects. This includes designing, estimating, tendering, scheduling, supervising, negotiating, and administering contracts. The role ensures projects are delivered within scope, budget, and deadlines, meeting our client’s standards.

The Project Manager will utilize internal and external resources to manage the design and construction of multiple projects, collaborating with fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams to support operations. Responsibilities include reporting to stakeholders on all aspects of planning, design, and contract administration.

The Project Manager must familiarize themselves with and adhere to all of IPECC’s and the Client’s internal procedures for procurement, project management, document control, and safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare design proposals and manage construction contracts for modernization and renovation projects.
  2. Review drawings and specifications prepared by architects and engineers, and prepare construction documents for project tender and department approval.
  3. Coordinate with department teams to ensure client requirements are met during design and construction.
  4. Research building products, investigate contracting issues, and assess their appropriateness to meet client goals.
  5. Provide guidance on functional planning, programming, interior design, and enforce safety and building code regulations, client requirements, and good design practices.
  6. Select procurement methods in consultation with the client, developing contract specifications and drawings for fair competition.
  7. Project Manager compensation is based on hours worked, with a standard 40-hour workweek and pre-approved overtime at the regular rate.
  8. Workstation with network access will be provided at the Client’s Office within the Facility Services area.
  9. Mileage will be calculated and compensated from the Client’s Central office.
  10. The Client will supply a local laptop for network access.

Qualifications:

  1. Technical diploma related to Architectural Design, Building Construction, or Construction Engineering.
  2. At least seven years of project management experience in Alberta Infrastructure or School Jurisdiction institutional design and construction management.
  3. Certified Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer designation.
  4. Knowledge of construction methods, building systems, contract law, shop drawings, specifications, and project management.
  5. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, WHMIS, and TDG regulations.
  6. Awareness of Hazardous Materials and Asbestos, with proper safety and remediation practices.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Project.
  8. Understanding of the construction industry and best practices.
  9. Strong leadership and contractor supervision skills.
  10. Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  11. Customer-focused with decision-making influence.
  12. Effective consultation, needs assessment, and communication skills.
  13. Attention to detail, budget management, and cost reconciliation capabilities.
  14. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license and transportation.
  16. Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
