About the job:
Kent is looking for a Project Manager for our office in Edmonton, AB.
You will oversee execution of Projects or large Programs of Projects and act as the primary contact for clients regarding performance or non-performance of assigned projects and foster strong relationships leading to growth in project portfolios across multiple clients.
You will create and maintain an attitude of leadership towards the project team with respect to overall management activities (including quality assurance, engineering, procurement, planning and controls, construction management, pre-commissioning, industrial labour relations and safety) to achieve a quality project, while respecting the established budget and schedule objectives.

Workforce Leadership and Management
- Create a context that allows Project Teams to achieve targeted results.
- Demonstrate the leadership required to affect positive change, integrity and 100% responsibility for project results.
- Escalate project staffing concerns to the Kent Leadership Team.
- Participate in the implementation of Kent’s strategic tactics across Canada.
- Facilitate manpower leveling for the workload across all offices – includes ensuring the flow of information into the MFL.
- Provide direct feedback and follow up on any corrective actions required to performance issues in engineering disciplines and functional group (Project Controls, Supply Chain, etc.) that hinder project performance.
Project Execution
- Deliver all projects to established targets (schedule, cost, quality, health & safety) and client expectations.
- Understand the Client’s business and articulate appropriate direction to the Project Engineering team for alignment.
- Ensure that Kent’s contractual obligations towards the Client are met.
- Ensure appropriate resources are in place for project execution.
- Oversee and communicate project portfolio KPI performance to stakeholders. Intervene as required to achieve targets.
- Ensure all project reporting requirements, both internal and external, are met.
- Manage and resolve escalated project issues with Client / internal interfaces, including execution of client satisfaction measurement.
- Ensure clarity and appropriateness of scope of work for new projects and the related engineering documents. Communicate and clarify as required the scope, including the design information and any specific technology to be used, to Project Managers / Project Engineers.
- Oversee the development of project execution strategies for all projects and intervene when required to ensure proper project setup.
- Ensure all projects have a Project Execution Plan and Quality Plan as agreed with the Client.
- In collaboration with the QA Manager, ensure that project execution is adhering to the appropriate standards and procedures.
- Ensure appropriate cost and schedule controls are in place for each client. Intervene as required to ensure targets are met.
- Establish and chair monthly project review meetings.
- Participate in project management leadership meetings as required.
- Establish appropriate communication systems (e.g. meeting structures) to ensure that all required data and information necessary for the execution of projects are made available to the Project Managers / Project Engineers.
- Ensure cost estimates are developed for each contracted scope of work.
- Participate in the development and/or roll-out of new or improved project management tools, systems and/or work processes in collaboration with the East and West Regions representatives.
Business Development and Strategy
- Support theleadership teamin leading the planning/development of future work with existing clients.
- Participate with Business Development team to solicit work from new and existing clients.
- Assign or take on Proposal Management as required, in the case a PE or PM is assigned provide oversight to them for proposal work.
- Be involved in reviewing and giving input to new contract terms with clients and sub-contractors.
- Provide input into the strategic plan for Canada when it comes to:
- New Clients
- New work and areas of responsibility with existing clients
- New stand-alone projects
- Office Execution of projects
- Procedures and Guidelines to be followed for work executed in Canada
- Individual project contribution to EBIT/GMAF
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Yourknowledge/skills,education,andexperience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant oil and gas project experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-discipline teams doing feasibility, FEED and detailed engineering, procurement, and execution phases of projects.
- Understand contract requirements, development, and negotiations.
Communication:
- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
- Proven Project Management skills and team leadership.
- Strong business and commercial acumen.
