Job description

A Project Manager, reporting to a Program Manager, is assigned clear scope of work.

Project Managers are fully versed in the Statement of Work and Contract requirements, working to determine root cause of problems and communicate strategic solutions with applicable stakeholders and are responsible for ensuring that delivery of scope is planned, performance managed, tracked to completion.

Having Project Managers in place therefore has a direct impact on the ability of the business to achieve customer requirements within cost and schedule. Work would still be carried out, and therefore expenditure of government provided funding, but potentially not efficiently and/or in a manner that avoids unintended negative impact to the overall program.

Project Managers will coordinate with a number of stakeholders across the program, both internal and external, depending on the size and criticality of the assigned scope.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree, in business administration, engineering or related discipline.
  • Additional years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 5-8 years' experience in Project Management, in defense/design/construction industries.
  • Experience in project build sectors, large scope national contracts or heavy industrial sectors an asset.
  • Strong background in stakeholder management and teamwork skills; pro-active and results focused.
  • High level of competence with core Project Management processes: scheduling, lean methodologies, budgeting and cost forecasting, performance tracking, risk management.
  • Recognized PM designation (such as PMI) an asset.
  • Recognized continuous improvement certification (such as green/black belt) an asset.
  • Must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Canadian Government Security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives within the Program Management Performance based on input and direction from the Program Manager, Performance and the CSC Program Director.
  • Ensure a cohesive management structure to drive CSC Program execution.
  • Ensuring that the Program Management KPIs align with other key management processes, to ensure the Program is delivering value to the Customer in an efficient and cohesive manner.
  • Develop the communication methods of Program performance complete with high-level processes ensuring alignment with other CSC Functional Departments leading to a cohesive management structure driving CSC Program execution.
  • Review and development of Program performance reports, metrics and dashboards, including identification and coordination of JDI IT resources to deliver the data.
  • Lead on communication and engagements with internal and external stakeholders where it applies to performance Management.
  • Support the Program Manager level ad-hoc initiatives.
