Job summary

Ultra Maritime is seeking a Project Manager to lead multi-mission defense programs within our Canadian operations. You will guide cross-functional teams through the full engineering lifecycle, develop proposals, and ensure timely, on-budget delivery while maintaining strong customer and vendor relationships.

The role requires eligibility for Canadian security clearances, experience in defense programs, and proficiency with project controls including EVM and MS Project.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA required in a related technical or management discipline or equivalent experience.
  • PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years supporting defense/aerospace/manufacturing customer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop proposals and quotations for customers.
  • Lead and manage project teams to meet financial, schedule and technical goals.
  • Define work scope and implement scope controls; manage project schedule and performance.
  • Control project costs and prepare monthly status reports for stakeholders.
  • Manage resources and risks; ensure deliverables are accurate and complete.

The Project Management function with Ultra Maritime provides leadership and oversight of large and small complexity programs, while ensuring contract requirements are understood and met by liaising with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Contracts and Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop proposals and quotations for customers.
  • Lead, motivate and manage project team personnel to instill a commitment to project financial, schedule and technical goals;
  • Guide the development of project scope, the definition of work scope activities and implement scope controls;
  • Plan and implement the project schedule, monitor and assess performance, and implement corrective actions as required to meet delivery expectations;
  • Plan, monitor and control project costs to achieve budget expectations and prepare monthly financial and project status reports for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Work with functional counterparts to manage project resources through effective resource planning
  • Identify and manage the alleviation of project risks and the realization of project opportunities;
  • Review internal and external deliverables for accuracy and completeness
  • Create presentations and related project material for internal and external customers
  • Gather, collects, records, tracks, and verifies data and information from multiple sources.
  • Use Earned Value Management (EVM) or other metrics to track project progress in respect of required milestones.
  • Raise issues and exceptions to appropriate levels for resolution.
  • Provide insights on how to improve project design and processes for better overall delivery and value.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and subcontractor performance.
Role Requirements
  • Candidates must be capable of completing and successfully passing a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment
  • Candidates must be capable of acquiring a Canadian Reliability and/or NATO Secret Security clearance
Qualifications/Skills
  • BS / BA degree in a related technical or management discipline, or equivalent experience/education.
  • PMP certification or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in supporting customer programs within defense/aerospace/manufacturing industry.
  • Experience scheduling development projects, reporting on progress and running metrics.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Project.
  • Business acumen to include a working knowledge and understanding of financial, accounting, earned value, and operational functions required to provide sound project support.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining customer, client, and vendor relationships with high level of satisfaction.
  • Candidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Secret security clearance, have the ability to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articles, and be able to travel within Canada and Overseas.
