Job description

At Mitsubishi Power, we are developing and delivering power-generation technologies and services that support a more reliable and sustainable energy future. Our Canadian team values practical problem solving, collaboration, accountability, and authentic working relationships. We support one another, take ownership of our commitments, and stay focused on safe, successful outcomes for our customers.

Role Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for the safe, organized, and successful delivery of power-generation outage and service projects. The role leads project planning before mobilization and provides visible on-site leadership during execution, coordinating customers, field teams, engineering, suppliers, subcontractors, schedule, cost, quality, and project risk.

This position requires substantial travel and extended presence at customer sites during active projects. The successful candidate will balance hands-on execution leadership with disciplined commercial management, clear communication, and timely project reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead projects from contract handover through planning, mobilization, site execution, turnover, close-out, and lessons learned.
  • Serve as the primary project contact for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide on-site leadership during outages and service projects, supporting safe work, coordinated execution, and timely decisions.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, work breakdown structures, schedules, cost forecasts, staffing plans, risk registers, and communication plans.
  • Coordinate field personnel, engineering support, suppliers, subcontractors, tooling, materials, logistics, and site requirements.
  • Monitor project safety, quality, schedule, cost, productivity, scope, and risk, and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Lead daily project meetings, customer updates, look-ahead planning, issue resolution, and escalation of critical matters.
  • Manage changes in scope, including documentation, estimates, customer communication, approvals, and incorporation into project plans and forecasts.
  • Review vendor commitments, invoices, progress, and supporting records in coordination with procurement and commercial support personnel.
  • Prepare accurate project forecasts, progress reports, billing support, turnover packages, and close-out documentation.
  • Support resolution of technical issues by coordinating field service, engineering, and customer stakeholders.
  • Capture lessons learned and implement practical improvements in future project planning and execution.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable quality, ISO, safety, contractual, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant project experience.
  • At least five years of experience managing or leading complex outage, maintenance, construction, field service, or major industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors at active industrial sites.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, risk management, change management, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and maintain clear priorities in fast-paced site environments.
  • Strong customer communication, leadership, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, spreadsheet, word-processing, email, and project-reporting tools.
  • Experience in power generation, turbines, generators, or comparable rotating-equipment projects is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments, work extended hours during active outages when required, and travel approximately 50% of the year.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive health and dental benefits program.
  • Company retirement savings plan with employer matching.
  • Flexible work arrangements based on business, project, and customer-site requirements.
  • Technical training, professional development, and opportunities to grow within a global power-generation organization.
  • Employee recognition programs and team events.
  • A collaborative working environment focused on safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This position may be based in Calgary, Alberta; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; or remotely within Canada, subject to business needs and applicant experience. Travel is expected for approximately 50% of the year and may include extended assignments at customer sites during outage execution. Project schedules can require shift work, weekends, or extended hours. Outside active site assignments, work location and planning travel can generally be arranged with advance notice and reasonable flexibility.
