An opportunity exists for a Project Manager at a leading renewable energy company in Calgary. The successful candidate will lead the development of wind, solar, and storage projects across Western Canada, working closely with local stakeholders and a variety of consultants to ensure project success. This position offers a balance of remote work and field responsibilities, requiring strong negotiation skills and experience in managing contractual agreements and permits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 1-5 year of relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to interpret and present the terms and conditions contained within Land Lease agreements and other legal documents.
  • Must be self-motivated and comfortable working remotely and independently.

Enerfin is expanding their development team in Western Canada in order to pursue locally their growing pipeline of projects in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, as all three provinces have great potential for new renewable energy growth for the years to come.

Job Description

The Project Manager will be responsible for continuing the development of Enerfin’s pipeline of projects in Western Canada, as well originating new green field developments for wind, solar and storage energy projects.

Reporting to the Country Manager based in Montreal, the Project Manager, will work closely with the Canadian team to pursue development efforts in Western Canada and see to their realization.

This position is based in Calgary and offers the flexibility of working from home part-time.

The Project Manager will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Create strong and open relationships with landowners and local municipalities, act as a point of contact for any inquiries or concerns;

  • Work closely with consultants and contractors involved in project development (engineering firms, environmental consultants, stakeholder engagement consultants, land agents…);

  • Prepare or supervise the redaction of permit applications to the various agencies and competent authorities through project development;

  • Negotiate and manage the acquisition of new land leases for the purposes of project development;

  • Collaborate in acquiring project permits and authorizations (R.M./County permits, Nav. Canada, Transport Canada, AUC, AESO interconnection, AEP, MOE…)

  • Support the team in engaging with First Nations and all interested project stakeholders

  • Work in collaboration with Enerfin’s technical, administrative and legal in-house team for development efforts in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

  • Assist in RFQ/RFP bid responses.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 1-5 year of relevant professional experience;
  • Ability to interpret and present the terms and conditions contained within a Land Lease agreements and other legal documents, comfortable with reading, reviewing, and negotiating contracts;
  • Have a positive outgoing personality, comfortable with meeting and engaging new people, maintaining a professional attitude during all engagements;
  • Must be self-motivated and comfortable working remotely and independently;
  • Proficient PC skills using PowerPoint, spreadsheets and word processing;
  • Available for short duration national travel to remote locations and work in field conditions as per project requirements (must have a valid driving license);
  • Proficient in English, knowledge of French and/or Spanish an asset;

Assets:

  • Understand the development process of a utility scale power project – from inception (identifying suitable sites) to operation (site management during Operation);
  • User knowledge of Google Earth and GIS software; ability to support the development team with site identification, parcel identification and general site characteristics evaluation;
  • Prior renewable energy project development or construction supervision experience.
