Project Management III

Apex Systems is seeking to add an IT Project Manager III to join our multinational retail client located in Mississauga, ON. We intend to send qualified candidates for consideration.

Compensation: $80-85/hr CAD Incorporated

Schedule: M-F normal business hours, some travel will be required to sites

Overview:

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, planning, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific IT projects according to the approved scope, timelines, and budget. The Project Manager will also oversee quality control through all phases of the project. Projects typically include small to large warehouse implementations, process optimization requiring system change, new technology innovation, infrastructure and/or software upgrades.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Lead the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing of the project
2. Identify project tasks and resource requirements working with the project team
3. Plan, schedule, and manage project timelines, dependencies, and milestones through the use of a project plan
4. Identify, assemble and coordinate project resources
5. Prepare and manage project budget
6. Use various project management tools and software applications to proactively track, monitor and control project deliverables
7. Manage the triple constraint (time vs. scope vs. cost)
8. Prioritize and delegate project tasks, providing timely direction and support to project team on a day to day basis
9. Proactively manage project risks, including the identification of mitigation strategies
10. Perform project reporting & communications (Including weekly status updates and/or Exec Steering Committee meetings)
11. Challenge performance gaps of project team members and provide coaching/mentoring support
12. Facilitate meetings and design workshops, testing activities, and post go live support keeping a keen eye on quality

Qualifications:

1. University degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent) in Business, Engineering, Logistics, or equivalent
2. 5 - 8 years proven experience in a project management role in system implementation.
3. 2 - 3 years experience in implementing Technology solutions in Supply Chain, especially in warehousing (i.e. SAP WM, Manhattan, JDA), transportation, replenishment, preferably in an Omnichannel Retail environment.
4. Solid supply chain knowledge, especially in Logistics.
5. Ability to work independently, deal with ambiguity, and shift gears very quickly with changing priorities.
6. Strong focus on on-time, on-budget, on-scope delivery, targeting excellent customer / client service.
7. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to influence
8. Ability to engage with Director / VP level at both external clients and internal client (i.e. operations) during projects
9. Strong planning, organizational and keen attention to detail, but also able to see the big picture
10. Ability to work effectively in a team environment; some experience managing staff an asset
11. PMP certified or working towards designation
12. Proficient in MS Project

Travel:

Required to various sites across the GTA. May occasionally be required to work off hours (evenings/weekends) to meet project commitments.
