Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Social Innovation, the Project Lead – Community Innovation Pilots and Programming is responsible for leading the development, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the programmatic and pilot components of assigned NSERC-funded College and Community Social Innovation Fund projects. Working within the Principal Investigator and research team, the Project Lead translates project objectives into actionable workplans and leads community engagement, co-design activities, prototype testing, pilot delivery, and program evaluation. The position coordinates community partners, faculty, students, consultants, and project resources to ensure pilot activities are delivered safely, ethically, on time, within scope, and in accordance with partnership agreements and funding requirements. The Project Lead ensures that implementation evidence, participant feedback, observations, and evaluation data are systematically collected and documented so they can inform research interpretation, prototype iteration, and knowledge mobilization. The position is accountable for day-to-day program quality, partner experience, team performance, risk management, timelines, and achievement of project milestones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Takes direction from the Director of Social Innovation to ensure projects align with Social Innovation and Research, Innovation and Enterpreneurship’s departmental strategic visions and community partnership agreements.
  • Oversee all the programmatic deliverables of assigned NSERC CCSIF funded projects, ensuring program aligns to NSERC reporting guidelines and partnership agreements as outlined in the grant.
  • Lead the operationalization of the approved research plan including manage schedules, resources, quality, risks, scope, and deliverables, prototype testing, and pilot delivery.
  • In collaboration with the Project Manager and Primary Investigator ensure research data and ethical compliance is aligned to Georgian REB protocols and NSERC reporting standards.
  • Coordinate community partners, faculty, consultants, student researchers, field-placement students, and project staff; assign and monitor work; provide functional supervision; and manage day-to-day relationships and team challenges.
  • Ensure program and project plans include considerations for sustainability, EDIB, knowledge transfer, and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Lead the facilitation of in-community co-design workshops, learning exchanges, and participatory consultations related to research and grant deliverables across Simcoe and Muskoka
  • Operationalize evaluation tools approved by the research team; coordinate participant recruitment, consent, data collection, secure documentation, and implementation monitoring; and compile evidence for analysis and reflection.
  • Seeks to find inter department collaborations in the research project and build interdisciplinary relationships (eg. Indigenous, International, EDI&B, Liberal Arts)
  • Identifies human resource needs and interviews/ hires student and project assistants (e.g. Co-op Students)
  • Manages all student researchers, assistants and support staff in the execution of deliverables related to the pilot or programming under the research
  • Supports professional development and capacity-building for student researchers and research assistants.
  • Oversees talent performance evaluations and resources for pilot teams
  • With oversight of the Director of Social Innovation, cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners, social enterprises, public institutions, and research collaborators involved in the progression and knowledge mobilization of grant deliverables.
  • Designs high-quality reports, briefs, and presentations for internal and external audiences as part of regular updates on pilots related to the research project.
  • Prepares and implements dissemination activities and project knowledge mobilization by working with Georgian Marketing and Communication Teams in the preparation of mobilization materials and Advancement in fundraising events.
  • With oversight from Primary Investigator, assists research team and student researchers in the development and implementation of programmatic or pilot evaluations.
  • Executes communication follow-up activities with funders or partners, by attending meetings in community and presenting project updates and reports on project milestones.
  • Supports the research team in presenting research findings at internal and external events, including academic conferences and seminars, policy, and community forums.
  • Supports the development of accessible communications and case studies in accordance with EDIB principles and alternative storytelling methodologies that further Georgian’s contribution to international and nation social innovation research and communities of practice.
  • Contribute to the strategic narrative and positioning of Georgian College as a leader in place-based social innovation research.
Qualifications
  • Successfully completed a two-year diploma program in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in or familiarity working with social innovation and prototyping processes
  • Experience working with diverse community members (e.g Youth, Older Adults)
  • Knowledge of community-based participatory research facilitation approaches
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage support staff and work with staff from different departments.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
