Project Lead

Term of Employment : Full-time, Continuing
Rate of Pay : Band 8 : $47.45 - $51.98 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)
Location : Operations Centre

Duties :

  • Review, approve, and inspect design and construction of municipal infrastructure, ensuring compliance with city standards and requirements.
  • Provide technical support for utilities (water, sewer, storm drainage) and surface works (roads, sidewalks, traffic signals).
  • Prepare detailed designs, specifications, cost estimates, project schedules, bid documents, and contract documents.
  • Administer construction contracts, ensuring adherence to contractual and safety regulations.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, and issue completion certificates.
  • Supervise construction activities, including layout and inspection services.
  • Manage payments, inspections, and change orders.
  • Perform surveys using conventional and GPS equipment.
  • Create detailed design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Assist in training staff and developing standards and specifications.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support budgeting and long-term planning for infrastructure projects.
  • Update municipal standards and provide data for GIS asset management.

Other Duties :

  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Schedule :

Office-based, Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with additional hours for project needs.

Qualifications :

  • Certification as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), Technologist (P. Tech. (Eng.)), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T), or equivalent, or a graduate of a recognized Civil Engineering program.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with ASET or SASTT.
  • At least two years of project management experience in municipal infrastructure is preferred.
  • Knowledge of municipal infrastructure design, construction, inspection, and asset management.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil construction details.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
