Purpose :

We are currently recruiting for a Project Senior HSE - Construction. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Sudbury, Ontario reporting to the Senior HSE Manager.

No relocation is available for this position & candidates will require working in an office as well as visiting the client's site location.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Promote Safety Culture : Act as a champion for safety, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Engage with employees to promote safety awareness and encourage a proactive approach to HSE.
  • Review, update, and development of the project specific HSE processes and safe work practices, execution of related policies and procedures during the applicable phases of the Project.
  • Work with HSE Manager to meet goals related to project HSE activities.
  • Pre-qualify and evaluate project construction Contractor(s).
  • Coordinate / monitor the field implementation of the HSE Execution Plan.
  • In conjunction with Contractor(s), and through regular field work, evaluate Project personnel against the HSE Execution Plan, related procedures and related HSE instructions, and assist by coaching and mentoring as required to ensure understanding.
  • Create, distribute and present material on HSE education, promotion, and awareness.
  • Monitor Contractor(s) responsibilities regarding use and maintenance of SDS in the workplace.
  • Audit Contractor’s HSE Project specific programs, attend subsequent pre-mobilization meetings, facilitate, and attend pre-mobilization audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Project HSE requirements.
  • Participate as required with HSE Manager, WORLEY Project management or Contractor(s) in scheduled internal or external audits.
  • Provide feedback to participants and management on performance and areas for improvement.
  • Stay Informed and up to date on relevant provincial and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate, facilitate and / or assist with the project investigation process and follow-up on action plan.
  • Conduct training sessions for project teams, including HSE orientations, site / topic specific training to project management and contractor personnel.
  • Attend daily toolbox and daily pre-task meetings.
  • In conjunction with Contractor(s), ensure the display and dissemination of HSE material is suitable for HSE (toolbox) topics or other meetings.
  • Promote Safety Culture : Act as a champion for safety, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Engage with employees to promote safety awareness and encourage a proactive approach to HSE.

What you bring

Technical and Industry Experience :

Minimum of intermediate years of relevant experience in a similar role within the industrial construction.

Relevant industry certifications such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred; or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or other Health and Safety certifications, accreditations or equivalent.

Good knowledge of Ontario provincial and federal OHS Acts and Construction Regulations.

Understanding of ON WSIB requirements and applications.

Familiarity with Construction industry-specific hazards and risk mitigation strategies.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Ability to convey complex HSE concepts in an understandable and engaging manner.

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with project teams and HSE professionals.

At all times, conduct themselves in a professional and cordial manner while working on the Project.

Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to contribute to incident investigations and risk assessments.
