Job summary

WSP is seeking a Project Financial Advisor to strengthen financial governance for Canadian projects. You will partner with project managers, delivery teams, controllers and billing colleagues to manage setup through closure and to ensure accuracy of cost, revenue, and margins.

You will lead financial reviews, support the lifecycle from setup to closure, and train teams on project analysis tools and ERP systems. Fluency in French is required; a strong accounting background is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in administration or accounting.
• 3+ years of project accounting and financial/operational management.
• Knowledge of the professional services industry, project-based accounting, and ERP systems.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated professional judgment and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent command of Microsoft Windows tools.
• Excellent spoken and written French skills.
• Knowledge of Oracle would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and oversight on a portfolio of projects with multiple PMs across business units.
• Attend regular meetings with the Project Delivery Team on the financial status of projects.
• Lead the financial review for projects to ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
• Assist PMs through the financial lifecycle of a project: setup, monitoring, updates, closure.
• Record cost and revenue transactions timely to reflect project status.
• Ensure project setup mirrors as-sold price, cost, and margin; support addendums and POs.
• Work with the Project Delivery Team to ensure timely reviews, ETCs and EACs are prepared.
• Assess financial risks and update risk registers and revenue adjustments as needed.
• Train the Project Delivery Team on project analysis tools, dashboards, Oracle, and related systems.
• Provide expertise on revenue and costing methodologies to the Project Delivery Team.
• Assist with external and internal project audit requirements.
• Understand billing terms and liaise with Billing to ensure timely invoices.
• Support Controller with reserves, including EAC adjustments, AR, WIP, and proformas.
• Assist month-end close as required.
• Prepare variances pertaining to cost and revenue.
• Provide ad hoc financial reports for Controller and Management.

As a Project Financial Advisor; you will partner with project managers, delivery teams, Controllers, and billing colleagues to strengthen financial governance, support informed decisions, and help projects move from setup through successful closure.

Your Impact

• Provide support and oversight on a portfolio of projects with multiple PMs across business units.
• Attend regular meetings with the Project Delivery Team on the financial status of projects.
• Lead the financial review for projects to ensure compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies.
• Assist PMs through the financial lifecycle of a project, including setup, monitoring, updating, and closure.
• Accurately reflect a project's financial status by ensuring timely recording of all cost and revenue transactions.
• Ensure each project is set up and updated accurately and mirrors the as-sold price, cost, and margin of the contract, and that addendums, change orders, and POs support the contract value loaded in the system.
• Work with the Project Delivery Team to ensure timely project reviews are performed, ETCs and EACs are prepared and updated, and financial issues related to earnings, cash flow, and reporting are addressed.
• Assess project financial risks and assist in updating the project risk register and revenue adjustment forms as needed.
• Train and educate the Project Delivery Team on the use of project analysis tools, dashboards, Oracle, and related systems.
• Apply in-depth knowledge of the company's revenue and costing methodologies and provide expertise to the Project Delivery Team.
• Assist with external and internal project audit requirements.
• Understand commercial, billing, and payment terms on the project and act as a liaison with the Billing team to ensure invoices are prepared and sent to the client in a timely manner.
• Assist the Controller with project-related reserves as required, including Estimate at Completion adjustments, Accounts Receivable, Work in Progress, legal claims, and proformas.
• Support the Controller during month-end close as required.
• Prepare and analyze variances pertaining to cost and revenue.
• Provide financial assistance during the bid and pursuit phase as required.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports for the Controller and Management.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $69,700 - $92,300

MB & ON: $63,600 - $87,500

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $62,900 - $83,600
