Kiewit's Project Finance Analysts serve as the primary contact for all accounting and finance needs at a project level. They work directly with project and district management to provide insights into the financial health of projects. Responsibilities include evaluating construction job costs, conducting analysis and reporting, overseeing budgets, forecasts, and revenue recognition. The role also involves training, developing, and managing project finance/business staff.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Western Canada District, headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, specializes in heavy civil projects such as earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. Current opportunities are spread across the West Coast of Canada.

Location

This position is based full-time in our Burnaby District Office. Travel within BC/AB to project sites may be required.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead project forecast reviews, validate forecasts using historical data, and adhere to company standards for reporting.
  2. Support operations by identifying and communicating financial risks and opportunities.
  3. Manage employee performance, set clear expectations, and provide coaching and feedback.
  4. Prepare client invoicing, manage accounts receivable and revenue, and review cash flow projections monthly.
  5. Review and understand contracts and change orders, including insurance, taxes, and labor laws.
  6. Implement internal controls and serve as the main contact for financial audits.
  7. Drive continuous improvement and advocate for positive organizational change.
  8. Build trust and credibility within the organization through effective communication and process buy-in.
  9. Learn and understand field operations to better communicate financial data.
  10. Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial or data analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, including ledgers, payables/receivables, payroll, and taxes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, etc.).
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) for financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools like Power BI.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • High work ethic and commitment to quality results.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate as needed.
