Reporting functionally to the Director of Retube Tooling, the Project Engineering Manager -Retube Tooling would support one of domestic Refurbishment projects and work daily under the established project organization. The Project Engineering Manager will support the execution of design and technical activities in a site project delivery environment in accordance with industry standards and established governance and will be responsible for assigned aspects of site related tooling, and construction delivery refurbishment tools. This leader will be responsible for a team of Retube Tooling individuals executing commercial and internal work packages and projects, in a single discipline or set of closely related disciplines.

Location:Mississauga/Pickering, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Manages the size and composition of the team resources, including reporting structures, in support of the project needs.
  • Ensures all project training and qualifications records are up-to-date, and required training and qualifications are completed/updated on time.
  • Provides clear expectations and performance measures, meaningful feedback, recognizes and rewards achievements, and takes disciplinary steps when warranted.
  • Accountable for performance review processes and provides feedback on the performance of staff reporting to this role.
  • Responsible for human resource issues and effectively managing and resolving employee issues.
  • Ensures that the final deliverables from their team meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear codes and standards.
  • Approves technical documents prepared by staff reporting to them.
  • Plans and executes work consistent with quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Removes barriers that would impact deliverables to meet project requirements and priorities, working with the assigned staff to find solutions and optimizations.
  • Fosters a team environment and team building within Engineering and with internal and external customers.
  • Interfaces with clients and successfully delivers engineering products in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.
  • Establishes the technical approach to achieve project requirements and ensures the design satisfies these requirements.

The ideal Candidate:

  • University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
  • 8 years of progressive nuclear experience in a discipline and field of application relevant to the work being managed, including experience leading technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex and parallel technical projects would be an asset.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff;
  • Excellent client focus and conflict resolution skills;
  • Experience in Nuclear Refurbishment tooling and construction projects required.
  • Experience managing tooling work with interfacing requirements involving other engineering teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Human Factors etc.), Procurement, Quality Assurance, Contracts, and Construction;
  • Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet corporate needs.

Additional, preferred qualifications (mandatory for some projects):

  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and member in good standing or eligible to obtain such registration within 6 months of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 2 security clearance.
  • Experience in executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
