Position Overview

This is a student development opportunity. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating multiple work fronts, coordinating processes, and contributing to a team of cross functional employees within their area. As part of the engineering team for the project, the Project Engineering Co-Op student will participate in team meetings, work collaboratively to achieve the strategic objectives of the project, and assist with any project requirements when needed.

This position is based in the United States of America. Incumbents will be required to work on-site from an assigned project location within the United States of America. Locations include but are not limited to: California, Michigan, Montana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, North Dakota, Nevada, Colorado, and Texas. Candidates must be willing and able to relocate to the local area of their assigned project.

Start Date: September 2025

Responsibilities

  1. High level of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
  2. Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and costs accruals.
  3. Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
  4. Process and estimate change orders and Requests for Information as directed by Project Manager.
  5. Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  6. Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals, and resubmittals, including a file of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.
  7. Process/manage material deliveries – ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and in compliance with Contract documents.
  8. Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
  9. Assist in developing and updating project schedule.
  10. Work closely with field construction personnel (Superintendents, Foremen and Crews).

Qualifications

  1. Must be willing to travel and relocate to locations in the United States of America. Travel and relocation are requirements of this position.
  2. Must be a Canadian citizen enrolled in an accredited university for Visa purposes.
  3. Minimum Co-Op term of eight (8) months required.
  4. Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Environmental preferred).
  5. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  6. Thorough attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  7. Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  8. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  9. Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
