Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced project manager to oversee a portfolio of engineering projects ranging from hundreds of thousands to multi-million dollars across two plants in the United States (Hutchinson, MN and Rhinelander, WI), as well as supporting three Canadian plants in Ontario. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proven track record in managing capital projects. This role is crucial for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while supporting plant performance improvements.

Responsibilities:

1. Project execution: Develop and implement project plans using a Front-End Loading approach, including scope definition with plant staff, R&D, and other business units, engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
2. Cost estimate and scheduling: Prepare and manage cost estimates and project schedules to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
3. Stakeholder management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operations, and vendors, to meet project goals.
4. Permitting and compliance: Manage permitting processes and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
5. Risk management: Identify and mitigate project risks, focusing on safety, regulatory compliance, process safety (including HAZOP), and EHS considerations.
6. Quality assurance: Oversee the quality of project deliverables, ensuring they meet high standards and industry requirements, especially in the food sector.
7. Communication: Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency.
8. Continuous improvement: Implement best practices and initiatives to enhance project efficiency and overall plant performance.
9. Contract management and procurement: Manage contracts and procurement for engineering equipment and contractors across civil, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and automation services.
