Are you a systems engineer or mechanical or electrical Engineer with significant experience in defence or aerospace product development and a passion for seeing the big picture? If so, GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc. is looking for you to join our team as a Project Engineer / Technical Manager! We are experiencing rapid growth and require additional capability to support new sonar programs.

As a Project Engineer / Technical Manager at our sonar engineering facility, you will use your technical and leadership skills to lead the delivery of technical projects. You must rely on a strong knowledge of product development and / or systems engineering to guide large, multi-disciplinary sonar programs through their entire lifecycle, from kickoff and requirements definition to field commissioning. You will regularly interact with internal delivery teams, subcontractors, and customer technical representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Ownership: Technical oversight of programs from kickoff to delivery, taking personal ownership of their success. Understand our products. Individually contribute + lead others. Get things done.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and motivating a team of engineers and other professionals, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Decisiveness: Keep the big picture in mind as you make considered and timely decisions on technical details.
  • Engineering Process: Understand and implement company engineering processes throughout the project lifecycle including initial concept, requirements definition, system architecture, statements of work for subcontractors and development teams, verification & validation planning, review milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc), qualification testing, integration, commissioning, acceptance.
  • Planning: Support the program manager in project planning including work breakdown, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Resource Management: Understand your team's expertise and communicate staffing needs with Engineering management.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicating with stakeholders, including clients, senior management, and team members, to provide updates and address any issues.
  • Client Relations: Interface with external and internal clients on technical topics.
  • Risk Management: Anticipate, identify, mitigate, and manage risks and roadblocks.
  • Quality Assurance: Deliver good product.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Engineering Technology and/or related career experience.
  • 5+ years of project engineering or systems engineering experience.
  • Experience in marine systems, defence, or aerospace sectors is considered an asset.
  • Extensive technical capability and experience that provides you with confidence to make multi-dimensional technical decisions.
  • Experience interacting with SMEs, developers, and engineers from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, project engineering, or technical management.
  • Leadership experience and training is considered an asset.
  • Hold a valid Canadian passport.

Security Requirements

  • All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
  • Candidates must have a social insurance number, have lived in Canada for the past five consecutive years, and be legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
