Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Engineer in Alberta to lead design plans, coordinate with teams, and deliver transportation projects from planning through construction. The role offers a hybrid work environment with in-office and field collaboration based on project needs and client meetings.

The right candidate has 8+ years in engineering, Alberta PE licensure (or eligible), and experience with transportation design. Strong communication and leadership are essential for successful delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years’ engineering experience and project implementation.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Alberta or eligible for licensing.
  • Experience with geometric design of provincial highways, streets and rural roads; drainage design or construction administration is an asset.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads and/or OpenRoads is an asset.
  • Experience in cost estimating, tender preparation, and contract administration on transportation projects.
  • Ability to manage projects and teams of different disciplines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of design plans and assist with technical specifications and quantity estimates.
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical studies.
  • Experience preparing grading and surfacing designs with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors is an asset.
  • Provide experienced and skilled engineering and management of transportation projects from initiation through construction.
  • Coordinate with client project managers and design teams including sub consultants for effective project delivery.
  • Collaborate with transportation staff and departments to complete projects.

Your Opportunity

Our Transportation practice has an immediate requirement for a Project Engineer in our Alberta offices. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can work in a team environment and want to be involved in exciting local, regional, and national projects. The successful candidate will work directly with senior project managers and design teams to delivery our current and future projects.

Opportunity provides for a hybrid work environment. In office presence is expected based on project needs, client meetings, and team collaboration.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of design plans and assist with preparation of technical specifications and quantity estimates as required.
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical studies.
  • Experience preparing grading and surfacing designs with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors is an asset.
  • Provide experienced and skilled engineering and management of various transportation projects from initiation of planning through construction.
  • Coordination with client project managers and design teams including sub consultants for effective project delivery.
  • Working with other transportation staff and departments to complete projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in engineering and project implementation with experience in the design of transportation-related facilities.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta (or eligible for licensing).
  • Experience in geometric design of provincial highways, streets and rural roads; drainage design or construction administration is an asset.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads and/or OpenRoads software is an asset.
  • Experience in cost estimating, tender preparation, and contract administration on transportation projects.
  • Ability to manage projects and teams of different disciplines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and place a high emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
