Job summary

The Valtech Group is seeking a Project Engineer to report to the Vice President, Projects and Estimating. The role focuses on analysis, validation, and technical follow-up of assigned projects, ensuring drawings, calculations, and documentation meet client requirements, codes, standards, and manufacturing needs.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Fluent in French and English, written and spoken.
• 5–10 years of experience in metal fabrication or custom manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Review client documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical requirements, and identify any inconsistencies or conflicting information.
• Perform the technical calculations required to validate drawings, including calculations in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1, ASME B31.3, and lifting calculations.
• Review and revise fabrication drawings and weld maps prepared by Drafters based on applicable codes, specifications, and reference drawings.
• Recommend technical solutions and adjustments to ensure the manufacturability of projects.
• Respond to clients’ technical inquiries and ensure thorough follow-up on technical matters.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and production teams to optimize quality, costs, and project timelines.
• Ensure that pre-production schedules are met and participate in planning departmental activities.
• Provide technical support throughout the fabrication process, including the management of non-conformities, rework, and required adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, client requirements, and the company’s quality standards.
