We’re hiring on behalf of a Canadian technology company established in 2012, with a team of 50–100 professionals. The company specializes in developing mission-critical electronic systems with a strong track record of building high-performance, safety-certified solutions used globally in training and real-time operations.

Role Overview

As a Project Engineer, you’ll bridge engineering, quality, certification, and manufacturing teams to deliver safety-critical technology projects. You’ll lead engineering efforts through all stages—from estimates and technical risk management to progress reporting and continuous innovation—while ensuring development aligns with industry standards and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project execution for both hardware and software systems aligned with regulatory and industry standards
  • Prepare engineering estimates and development plans
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams to ensure deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule targets
  • Manage risk, prepare contingency plans, and maintain engineering processes
  • Liaise with departments like Program Management, Certification, and Quality
  • Support continuous product improvement and innovation initiatives

Top Skills/Tools Required

  • Project leadership in hardware/software engineering for safety-critical systems
  • Experience with certification standards: DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, and other compliance frameworks
  • Technical risk analysis and mitigation planning
  • Engineering documentation, planning, and progress reporting
  • Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, etc.)

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering (or Computer Science)
  • 7+ years of experience in safety-critical system design
  • Solid knowledge of certified development processes and quality standards
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
