Job description

Come and do your life’s work - Why we do what we do

Phlair unleashes CO2's potential through breakthrough innovation. We rapidly deploy Direct Air Capture technology, facilitating the removal and reuse of CO2 at scale.

For decades, fossil fuels served as the backbone and feedstock of our economy – with the downside of polluting our atmosphere. We invert this equation by developing a cost-efficient and scalable electrochemical Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology. We have cracked the nut here by developing a breakthrough hydrolizer for acid/base regeneration, allowing us to capture CO2 from ambient air for either permanent storage or as a precursor for CO2-negative chemicals. For this, we collaborate with leading customers like Frontier Climate, Stripe, Shopify, and Klarna.

We are looking for highly ambitious and motivated individuals who are ready to work their ass off to have a lasting impact on the planet. Your ideas will set the foundation and shape the future of our company.

At Phlair, we're committed to creating a high-performing and inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued. You can find more on our culture here.

Join our team of world-class scientists, engineers, and passionate entrepreneurs. All qualified applicants are given fair consideration, and women are strongly encouraged to apply - Come as you are!

What you’ll need

Hard skills that are necessary

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Civil, or related field)
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in the industry and with large projects (EPCs, chemical industry, or related)
  • You bring experience with engineering and construction workflows and an understanding of project lifecycles
  • You are proficient with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)

Soft skills that are necessary

  • You have a results-driven mindset, with a passion for delivering projects on time
  • You possess excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • You see yourself as a hands-on professional who can maintain a high-level overview while diving into the nitty-gritty details across engineering and construction teams
What we offer you
  • Attractive compensation package, including stock options in the company
  • Minimum of 30 days of vacation per year, which includes 2 days of recreational leave
  • Financial support with your move to Munich
  • Free public transportation ticket for all of Germany
  • A fitness subscription to EGYM Wellpass, so you can clear your head in your time out of the office
  • Free team lunch every Thursday with our amazing chef
Here is our website; we recommend you check the career page! A great read is also the TechCrunch article on our technology and a piece by our lead investor Extantia on the future of DAC.

We are the first EU and German DAC company to be selected by Frontier Climate. Frontier is a buyers' club for high-quality carbon removal credits, i.e., a certificate validating the permanent (for >1,000 years!) and additional (to natural processes) removal of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, thereby curbing global warming.

Benefit and grow from our network: You will have access to an extensive group of leaders. We can provide 1-to-1 mentoring with investors, engineering advisors, or our business angels from startups, consulting, and industry.
Great to have, but optional
  • Familiarity with tools for risk assessment and analysis (e.g., FMEA, HAZOP)
  • Basic knowledge of procurement processes and supplier management
  • Ability to review technical bids and ensure materials meet project requirements
Your mission at Phlair

Together with our Head of Projects, you will work on the execution of Project Dawn, our flagship initiative to build large-scale Direct Air Capture (DAC) facilities. If you obsess about delivering projects on time and keeping track of details while maintaining a holistic view of project goals, you’re great for this role and you’ll enjoy the journey ahead!

  • Ensure project delivery within scope, time, and budget while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality
  • Manage and communicate to stakeholders to make priorities clear and motivate people to give 200%
  • Prepare and review technical reports, progress updates, and project documentation
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies
Note that targets are an important roadmap, but nothing is set in stone in the startup world.
