Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Project Engineer - Mining/Remediation to join our team! In this role you will get to work on the Giant Mine Project supporting various construction efforts including but not limited to a Water Treatment Plant.

Parsons is the Construction Manager for the Giant Mine Remediation Project. This is a world-class remediation project using innovative methods to deliver a safe environment. The project is expected to last over 10 years and is located just outside the City of Yellowknife, NWT.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructability inputs.

  • Responsible for planning, managing, progressing the work package from completion of design phase through to close out and hand over.

  • Responsible for development of internal budgetary estimates and schedule.

  • Responsible for development of scopes of work and tender packages. Pre-bid meeting, pre-bid tours and related communication requirements.

  • Participate in bid evaluations and contract awarding.

  • Responsible for contractor onboarding, document submittals and approvals to facilitate mobilization and construction execution.

  • Responsible for execution of construction activities and contractor performance. Compliance to scope, schedule, budget, daily weekly reporting and planning, quality of work, safety and environment. Issues and risk resolution.

  • Responsible for managing requests for information processes and flow.

  • Responsible for managing compliance to the change order process and procedures. With a thorough understanding of scope, specification, contract, field activities to support this function and relate documentation requirements.

  • Responsible for maintaining, tracking and reporting out on project deliverables. Schedule, cost, quality of work, safety and environmental compliance, Issues and resolutions.

  • Effectively communicate, lead and align with construction superintendents, construction inspectors, QA QC coordinator, finance, procurement, document control, planning, scheduling and estimator and contractors.

  • Assists the Construction Manager with resolving issues when variance in cost, schedule or quality arise by working with the sub-contractors to develop and implement corrective actions.

  • Assists the Mine Manager, H&S Manager, and Environmental Manager in ensuring HS&E awareness and compliance by all sub-contractors.

  • Preparation of monthly reports on work package progress with schedule and budget compliance assessment for delivery to the Construction Manager and Senior Project Manager. May participate on status briefings with the client.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • A degree or technology diploma in Engineering, Geology, or a directly related technical field; significant experience in lieu of a degree/diploma will be considered.

  • 3+ years of experience in project management, construction management, specifically, in developing project requirements and plans; preparing cost estimates; participating in contract bidding and award processes, managing projects in execution phase, and managing project closeout.

  • 3+ years of work experience in heavy civil, northern mining or remediation projects.

  • 3+ years of experience working in Northern Canada is an asset.

  • Knowledgeable of industry practices and regulations.

  • Knowledgeable of current technologies and how it can be effectively utilized on projects.

  • Professional designation (or the ability to obtain one) as a professional geologist, engineer, CET, additionally a PMP designation is preferable.

  • Experience managing on-site activities of multiple subcontractors.

  • Experience addressing and resolving issues such as poor performance by subcontractors.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and coordinate members of a team.

Salary Range:

$88,700 - $165,000.
