Position Overview

This is a developmental opportunity. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating multiple work fronts, processes, and contributing to a team of cross-functional employees within their area. As part of the engineering team for the project, the Project Engineer will participate in team meetings, work collaboratively to achieve the strategic objectives of the project, and assist with any project requirements when needed.

This position requires on-site work at an assigned project location within the United States. Locations include but are not limited to California, Montana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, North Dakota, Nevada, Colorado, and Texas. Candidates must be willing and able to relocate to the local area of their assigned project. Remote work and fly-in-fly-out arrangements are not available for these positions.

Responsibilities :

  1. Involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
  2. Participate in monthly forecasting of revenue and costs accruals.
  3. Gather data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
  4. Process and estimate change orders and Requests for Information as directed by the Project Manager.
  5. Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals, maintaining complete and current records.
  6. Manage material deliveries, ensuring proper inspection for quantity and quality in compliance with contract documents.
  7. Negotiate and manage subcontractor and material contracts.
  8. Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.
  9. Collaborate closely with field construction personnel.
  10. Support quality control and quality assurance efforts.
  11. Represent Barnard on technical matters related to your expertise.
  12. Attend and facilitate technical and progress meetings.
  13. Review progress reports and endorse invoices for services.
  14. Prepare and review reports and correspondence related to project technical issues.
  15. Maintain regular contact with contractors, consultants, and other technical personnel.

Qualifications :

  1. Willingness and ability to relocate and reside in the assigned project area in the USA.
  2. Canadian citizenship for work visa purposes.
  3. Four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
  4. Heavy civil construction experience.
  5. Experience working on active construction sites.
  6. Ability to handle multiple tasks and make timely, sound decisions.
  7. Ability to motivate and coordinate efforts of others.
  8. Knowledge of project management principles and sound judgment.
  9. Strong organizational, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  10. Effective communication skills, including technical report writing.
