PAL Aerospace Avionics Engineer Job Description

PAL Aerospace, a leader in aviation innovation with a strong reputation built over forty years, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Avionics Engineer. We are open to applicants at all experience levels and support a flexible hybrid work model across Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces, with opportunities to work from any of our offices in Eastern Canada.

Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to aircraft modification and repair projects across various aircraft types, including fixed and rotary wing.
  2. Interface with customers, equipment suppliers, regulatory agencies (TCCA/FAA/EASA), and subcontractors.
  3. Conduct on-site installation surveys and communicate effectively with installation teams.
  4. Manage engineering design changes during installation phases.
  5. Participate in and observe flight, ground, and EMI testing.
  6. Prepare engineering and airworthiness documentation, including analysis reports, compliance reports, engineering drawings, and technical publications.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (preferably aerospace-focused) and at least 3 years of relevant experience supporting aircraft development or modifications related to avionics systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of civil avionics and electrical systems.
  • Understanding of airworthiness regulations from Transport Canada, FAA, or EASA.
  • Experience in preparing engineering reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Assets
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance procedures and documentation.
  • Knowledge of functional hazard assessments, system safety, and failure modes analysis.
  • Experience with environmental qualification standards like DO-160.
  • Proficiency in electrical drafting using AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Design Approval Organization (DAO) activities.
