Project Engineer
Location : Toronto
General Accountability and Summary
This role will appeal to a collaborative individual with a broad interest in and exposure to various aspects of engineering design and project management in the mining field. The individual will be motivated to contribute to TMG's growth and development. Based in the Toronto Office and reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for technical, administrative, business development, and project management functions related to TMG’s project sites.
The successful candidate will spend at least twelve (12) of their first twenty-four (24) months engaged on long-term, site-based construction and/or commissioning projects. This involves business travel to remote or hardship sites for up to eight (8) weeks at a time, potentially living in a construction or mining camp on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish reporting criteria, content, and format for monthly status reports, cost variance reports, forecasts, budget updates, change notices, and presentations to management.
- Provide regular reports with analysis to stakeholders.
- Develop execution plans and logic networks for engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction activities.
- Support project scheduling and analyze contractor schedules, including critical path reports.
- Monitor and expedite contractor performance to meet schedule targets.
- Organize weekly schedule review meetings and assess work forecasts.
- Identify schedule risks and support recovery plans.
- Follow up on action items to ensure completion.
- Manage equipment lists throughout the project.
- Participate in procurement, including scope definition, tender evaluation, and expediting.
- Verify technical documentation from vendors aligns with project schedules.
- Contribute to design and project review meetings.
- Prepare project deliverables such as scopes of work, technical specifications, reports, calculations, estimates, and financial models.
- Attend project meetings and track action item completion.
- Travel to mine sites for stakeholder meetings and site assignments.
- Coordinate with operations for feedback and support.
- Support project managers and corporate functions as needed.
- Promote TMG and client values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications & Education
- Minimum 5 years in engineering and design.
- Combined 5 years in project development, construction, or mine operations.
- University degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Experience managing internal and external teams.
- Experience in technical writing or document management (asset).
- Experience with database management (asset).
- Experience in process, metallurgical, mining, or geotechnical engineering (asset).
- Secondary language proficiency (French or Spanish preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain P.Eng.
