This position reports report to the Senior Project Manager located at our St. John’s NL office.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer provides project support under the direction the Project Manager for ongoing and potential future projects. Project support includes the gathering and compilation of engineering documents and drawings, coordination of customer requested information with existing manufacturing information, and the development of project specific reports that all support the product delivery portion of the project.

The ideal candidate should have a balanced knowledge of both project process and engineering. They should also be enticed by playing a pivotal role in contributing to the company’s continued success while upholding Kongsberg’s values of Determination, Innovation, Collaboration and Reliability. This position will work alongside a team of down-to-earth colleagues who are just as dedicated and ambitious in their respective areas of expertise.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gather engineering drawings, sketches, Bill of Materials, and other information for a wide range of customer projects within Ocean Technologies.
  • Consolidate inputs from a variety of sources to create efficient packages with input from other stakeholders on the team.
  • Analyze design requirements and present possible solutions for integration with vessels.
  • Document controlling responsibilities via Kongsberg’s Document repository system called Teamcenter.
  • Work with third party suppliers to meet contract requirements.
  • Produce contract deliverables for new vessel builds and refurbishments.
  • Provide pre-sales support as needed.
  • Continual process improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of project coordination/engineering experience.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Suite of products (i.e. Excel, Teams, Word, Etc.).
  • High comfort level to understand and work with 2 dimensional layouts, wiring schematics, and diagrams.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to work alone and/or with a team.
  • Good customer support and people skills.
  • Structured mind-set and work methodology, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with vessel class societies (Lloyds or DNV) is a benefit.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with other departments, product centers, and regional offices.
  • Analytical with an affinity for complex problem solving and time-management.
  • Committed and reliable.
  • Knowledge in hydroacoustics is a benefit.

Pay Range: $75,000 – $85,000 CAD annually (DOE)

Work Location: The ideal candidate would be based out of the St. John’s, NL office

An alternative location would be based out of our Halifax, NS office.
