Job summary

Fluor Canada seeks a Project Engineer to join multidisciplinary teams, ensuring technical judgment in evaluation, organization, and execution of project management tasks. You will coordinate vendors and ensure designs meet contractual obligations, while supporting ESG requirements and delivering cost-effective outcomes.

The role demands a four-year engineering degree and at least six years in EPFC/CM, with strong communication and familiarity with regulations across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

Job description

Project Engineer

Project Engineers work on multidisciplinary teams to plan and perform work requiring sound technical judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of project management assignments. This role manages and coordinates project activities in compliance with the contract to ensure safety, quality, value, timeliness, and commercial performance.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic project engineering functions, monitoring progress, preparing procedures, documenting communications and meetings, and identifying/evaluating project issues and concerns.
  • Coordinate efforts of technical disciplines, vendors, and licensors to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Support enforcement and/or implementation of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) requirements and initiatives.
  • Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and/or subcontractors.
  • Assist in creating and coordinating overall project plans and schedules, monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans.
  • Assist in creating and coordinating project effort hours, cost estimates, and budgets, monitoring progress and cost performance against these.
  • Assist in preparation, delivery, and coordination of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) industry, including functional tasks on projects with a well‑developed understanding of procedures and interfaces; majority of experience on mining projects.
  • Effective communication skills with various stakeholder audiences, including management, co‑workers, clients, vendors, contractors.
  • Job‑related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a time‑conscious and time‑effective manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience participating in risk assessment initiatives.
  • Underground mining project experience.
  • Previous successful performance in a project engineering position on a minimum of two (2) medium or large sized projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data‑centric execution and familiarity with integrated software tools and databases.
  • Ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the company’s needs.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach, willingness to take on new work challenges; adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, accountability, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to set and maintain high performance standards with responsibility and accountability for completing assignments and tasks.
  • Customer focus with sustained relationship development.
  • Proactive reporting of progress and accomplishments of assignments and applying necessary follow‑up to monitor progress and results.
  • Analytical approach to problem‑solving and identifying potential solutions.
  • Technical and business writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer and software skills, including word processing, email, spreadsheets, electronic presentations, and project management tools.

Salary range: $118,000 to $218,000, based on experience and other factors such as qualifications, experience, location, internal pay equity, and market conditions.

Work Schedule

Compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off.
