The Project Director of Construction position calls for an individual who is adept at managing large-scale water treatment and Wastewater treatment construction projects and who can drive operational excellence within a construction setting.
Our client is a leading general contractor specializing in heavy civil and infrastructure projects with a strong focus on wastewater and water treatment facilities. With decades of experience and a commitment to sustainable development, safety, and innovation, they deliver high-quality solutions to municipal and industrial clients across the region.
Description
Lead and oversee all phases of wastewater treatment plant construction projects, from bidding and planning to commissioning and closeout.
Direct project managers, superintendents, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and public agencies, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control strategies.
Approve major project expenditures and monitor cost performance throughout project life cycle.
Identify and mitigate financial risks proactively.
Collaborate with project teams to develop detailed CPM schedules and resource-loaded plans.
Monitor and adjust schedules to meet project milestones and contractual deadlines.
Review and negotiate contract terms with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and specifications.
Enforce company safety standards and promote a culture of safety across all project sites.
Ensure all work complies with environmental regulations, QA/QC programs, and technical standards.
Mentor and develop project management staff.
Contribute to recruiting efforts and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
Profile
15+ years of experience in construction project management, with at least 10 years focused on wastewater or water treatment facilities.
Experience in managing projects valued at $100M+.
Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary construction teams and subcontractors.
Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and regulatory requirements specific to wastewater treatment.
Proficiency with scheduling (Primavera P6), project management software (Procore, CMiC, etc.), and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
PMP or CCM certification (preferred).
