Position Overview

The company seeks an experienced Project Director to lead major infrastructure and building projects with values of $100 million or more. This role is responsible for strategic oversight, execution, and delivery of complex construction projects, requiring strong technical expertise, advanced financial acumen, and exceptional leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and accountability for the successful delivery of large-scale construction projects ($100 million+), from initiation through to close-out.
  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including construction, design, engineering, project controls, and stakeholder relations.
  • Set and communicate project vision and objectives; align internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Oversee creation and management of project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation; authorize high-level financial commitments and approve significant change orders.
  • Establish and enforce compliance with all contractual, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead risk management initiatives, ensuring early identification and effective mitigation strategies for project risks.
  • Mentor and develop project leaders, fostering a collaborative and high-performance workplace culture.
  • Serve as the primary representative in client, consultant, contractor, and government engagements.
  • Resolve critical project issues and support negotiations as needed.
  • Drive the implementation of best practices in quality management, safety, and process improvement.
Qualifications
  • At least 15 years of progressive experience in construction management, including 5 years in a senior leadership or director role.
  • Demonstrated record of delivering large, complex ICI (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial) projects valued at $100 million or greater.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Strong background in contract management, project financials, and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Deep knowledge of civil, architectural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) disciplines.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard project management tools and software (such as Procore, MS Project, or Primavera).
  • Exceptional executive-level communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, Gold Seal, or P.Eng. are assets.
  • Proven commitment to process improvement and industry best practices.
  • Experience with a diversity of project types including new construction, modernization, and/or large retrofits.
  • Eligibility for security clearance considered an advantage.
