Job summary

BluEarth Renewables in Ontario seeks a Project Manager to lead renewable energy site development, coordinating with landowners, regulators, and internal teams to move projects from planning to construction.

You will manage development budgets, permits, interconnection, and stakeholder engagement, while ensuring HS&E policies are followed. The role requires strong communication, problem solving, and the ability to travel within Canada and the US.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Sciences, Project Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of project experience in renewable energy with wind, solar or storage assets.
  • Experience working with regulators at multiple levels and managing development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify renewable energy site opportunities and assess viability.
  • Support scopes, plans, and contract deliverables, HS&E, insurance, and QA/QC.
  • Advance development and pre-construction activities, budgeting, and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate with experts on technology, interconnection, regulation, engineering, and procurement.
  • Engage with communities, Indigenous partners, and stakeholders for consultation.
  • Coordinate regulatory agency consultations and decision-making processes.
  • Negotiate landowner access and provide project information.
  • Manage permitting, interconnection, transmission access, and handover to construction.
  • Uphold BluEarth’s Health, Safety & Environmental policies in all contracts and activities.
  • Uphold BluEarth’s values and enhance company image and reputation.
  • Support acquisition, development, construction, and operational functions as needed.

Job description

  • Renewable energy site identification and assessment.
  • Support project scopes, execution plans, track and manage contract deliverables, HS&E requirements, insurance needs and QA/QC plans.
  • Support project development and pre-construction project management activities, working to proactively identify project barriers and implement strategies to overcome such barriers, including preparation of annual development budgets.
  • Play a significant role in coordination with subject matter experts, on technology selection, interconnection matters, energy marketing, financing, regulatory, engineering and design and procurement.
  • Support public consultation and stakeholder engagement efforts with local communities and leaders as well as indigenous partners, leadership, and communities.
  • Support agency consultation efforts with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies and decision makers
  • Meet and negotiate with potential project landowners to acquire site control and to provide project information.
  • Coordinate project specific tasks including permitting and approvals, interconnection and transmission access, project communications, as well as providing an effective transitional basis into construction.
  • Uphold all aspects of BluEarth’s Health, Safety & Environmental policies, practices, and programs and work to ensure that all contracts and agreements are implemented and administered with the same care and requirements such that occupational accidents, injuries, and other hazards related to BluEarth’s activities are minimized and/or avoided.
  • Uphold BluEarth’s values and consistently enhance the image and reputation of the Company.
  • Support acquisition, development, construction, and/or operational functions as BluEarth may reasonably require in connection with the pursuit of its goals.
Key Accountabilities And Duties

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Sciences, Project Management, or related field.
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of project experience in renewable power generation with experience in wind, solar and energy storage is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with federal, provincial/state, and local regulators, and regulatory processes.
  • Possess excellent hands-on project management skills and demonstrated efficiency in providing project development support on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Exposure to project development with a preference towards land, permitting, consultation, interconnection/transmission access and construction.

  • Ability to proactively plan, schedule, track, monitor, and advance project activities, all supported by excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated efficiency in leading project development on multiple, concurrent projects involving different functional teams with varying deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication, and conflict/issue resolution skills, with the ability to proactively identify and strategically work to resolve challenging situations with knowledge and confidence.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, including Project, Word, Excel, GIS/mapping systems and document management systems.

  • Strong work ethic and high integrity.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion and have the confidence to ask questions to ensure clear and strategic action.

Job Requirements
  • Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken).
  • Ability to travel within the United States and Canada.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Flexibility to work in various settings including office environments, remote project development sites, operating facilities, and outdoors (with exposure to various weather conditions).
