Job summary

Borea Construction is seeking an Environmental Site Coordinator to support wind farm projects in Quebec. You will monitor environmental aspects on construction sites, liaising with clients, subcontractors and authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan environmental monitoring, review permits and develop tools and services.

Qualifications

  • Hold a technical or university degree in forest management and environment, forest operations, environmental studies, engineering, forestry, biology, or another relevant field.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Being a member of the Quebec Order of Forest Engineers is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of environmental standards to be respected on construction sites (e.g. RADF, EQA, Fisheries Act, Species at Risk Act).
  • Know ArcGIS software and have good technological skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French.
  • Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English to interact with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, partners, and colleagues at the national level.
  • Experience in the construction industry and its health and safety standards, an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure planning, environmental monitoring of wind turbine construction work, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and monitoring of current mandates (deadlines and budgets)
  • Ensure environmental monitoring of civil works, including land clearing, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Validate compliance with specifications, monitoring plans, laws, regulations and conditions of regulatory authorities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of appropriate legislation
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, approval authorities, project stakeholders
  • Collaborate in obtaining environmental permits and certificates of authorization
  • Propose solutions to problems related to the environment
  • Participate in the development of new tools and services offered by the company
  • Collaborate in obtaining exemptions or additional authorizations, if necessary
  • Participate in site meetings
  • Write monitoring reports
  • Perform other related duties

Reporting to the Project Manager, the function of the Environmental Site Coordinator is to support and monitor the work carried out on sites where wind farm projects are being built in Quebec. This role requires interacting with a wide range of stakeholders, from different levels and positions to ensure the project proceeds in accordance with the conditions set by regulatory authorities.

  • Ensure planning, environmental monitoring of wind turbine construction work, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and monitoring of current mandates (deadlines and budgets)
  • Ensure environmental monitoring of civil works, including land clearing, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Validate compliance with specifications, monitoring plans, laws, regulations and conditions of regulatory authorities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of appropriate legislation
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, approval authorities, project stakeholders

This role could be for you if you have
