Job description

Transportation Full Time Peterborough, ON Hybrid

D.M. Wills Associates Limited is in search of a Project Designer or Project Engineer in our Transportation Department.

Our Transportation Engineering team provides specialized transportation engineering services related to the design of highways and roads, including road safety, traffic engineering, active transportation and asset management.

As a member of our Highway Engineering Team, this role will focus on the technical aspects of project delivery. We're looking for someone who thrives on tackling technical challenges and keeps up with advancements in technology and software tools.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Designing and drafting of preliminary and detailed engineering drawings for various projects.
  • Completing engineering calculations to support design decisions.
  • Creating plans, profiles, and design quantities in AutoCad utilizing Civil 3D, InRoads, and OpenRoads.
  • Preparing and checking contract tender item quantities.
  • Preparing tender documents and costs estimates.
  • Interpreting and implementing standards from regulatory bodies.
  • Producing technical reports.
  • Maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Completing engineering field reviews.
  • Keeping current on the latest design tools and aids in CAD / Civil 3D / InRoads / Open Roads Design.
  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in highway design, including experience with MTO design.
  • Experience with InRoads / Open Roads Design software.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Well developed computer and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy, legislation, and engineering standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and time management.
  • General knowledge of Ontario Health and Safety Act
  • General knowledge of various design standards and requirements, such as OPSS and OPSD.
