What You Will Do:

GFT is looking for an experiencedProject Designer toprovidedetailed design and drafting supportfor the Transportation/Roadway Business Line in our downtown Toronto location.

What you'll will be challenged to do:

The Project Designerwill coordinate with members of the transportation team to deliver quality work in support of client projects while meeting CAD design standards and industry best practices.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Working closely with Engineer of Record to develop preliminary and detailed designs for sewers and watermains
  • Collaborating with Third-Party Utility designers to develop relocation and mitigation plans based on project specific impacts
  • Creating, maintaining, and editing design drawings and construction plans for transportation projects utilizingCAD software includingACAD, Mircostation, Civil 3D, Open Roads.
  • Preparing high quality drawings by utilizing engineering calculations, notes, sketches, etc. as prepared by engineers: using geometry and design components for accurate descriptions of components.
  • Providing clear and detailed plan preparation work, compliant with accepted design/drafting standards of the client including manuals, standard figures and plans, or other resources.
  • Understanding terminology, technology, and other concepts related to transportation engineering and construction practices.
  • Facilitating and ensuring the quality of drawings and graphic work produced for the team.
  • Preparing and checking quantity calculations from plans.
  • Incorporating and compiling multiple sub-plans/designs into consolidated master plans.
  • Quality review (QC/QA) of CAD files and submission drawings.

What you will bring to our firm:

  • 2 to 5+plus years of experience as a designer/technician with knowledge of local municipal, MTO, Metrolinx, TTC, OPSD, and utility standards.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in ACAD, Mircostation, Civil 3D, Open Roads, MS Word, Excel and Adobe PDF are required as a minimum

What we prefer you bring:

  • 5 +years working with MicroStation V8i is preferable. Experience in Open Roads and Civil 3D is strongly preferred

Compensation:

Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
