Job summary

Ainley Group is seeking a Project Design Engineer/Technologist for our Barrie or Collingwood Office to design municipal infrastructure in a collaborative team environment.

You will plan and design all aspects of projects, oversee construction administration, and contribute to design calculations, cost estimates, and approvals. Ideal candidates have P.Eng in Ontario or CET with substantial municipal experience and strong software skills.

Qualifications

• P.Eng. licensed in Ontario or CET with 7+ years in municipal consulting.
• Strong computer skills including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Word, Excel & MS Project.
• Experience in planning, preliminary and detailed design and construction administration for municipal infrastructure.
• Cost estimating and specification writing experience.
• Proven ability to gain approvals from municipal road authorities and review agencies.

Position Description

Ainley Group is currently seeking a Project Design Engineer/Technologists to join our Barrie or Collingwood Office. As the successful candidate, you will use your technical abilities to plan and design all aspects of municipal infrastructure projects in a dynamic team setting.

The Specifics Of The Position Are As Follows

Responsibilities and Duties

• Prepare preliminary and detailed designs for a variety of municipal infrastructure projects and oversee the construction administration associated with new and/or the rehabilitation of municipal transportation and servicing projects.
• Prepare design calculations for sanitary sewers, watermains, and storm sewers/stormwater management facilities.
• Prepare cost estimates, contract specifications, tender documents, and applications for approvals.
• Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors and construction supervision staff.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a municipal consulting engineering setting.
• Strong computer software skills including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Word, Excel & MS Project.
• Experience in planning, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction administration associated with new and/or the rehabilitation of municipal infrastructure.
• Skilled in cost estimating and specification writing.
• A track record of gaining approval of infrastructure designs from municipal road authorities and review agencies.
• Independent, organized and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects.

Compensation

$80,000 – $120,000 per year

Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialized experience and technical skill set. While the provided range serves as a general baseline, we take a holistic approach to defining final offers.
