Qualifications

Job description

At RK&K, we are hiring a Project Delivery Leader in Traffic to support existing clients and develop new business firm-wide. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead various pursuits and projects related to transportation, focusing on RK&K's current and new service areas. You will support public agencies with traffic analysis and design engineering programs across our portfolio.


This role can be remote with required travel to project locations as needed.

Essential Functions


  • Perform transportation planning studies, traffic operations analysis, and traffic engineering design plans.
  • Support projects across all modes of travel, including highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian, in urban, suburban, and rural environments.
  • Develop high-quality traffic reports and present findings professionally to clients both on-site and virtually.
  • Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, signals, signing, pavement markings, and ITS.
  • Utilize traffic analysis and simulation tools like Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients and internal teams, and oversee project staff and sub-consultants.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and the firm.
  • Ensure quality assurance and control for design work.
  • Apply engineering judgment and initiative within the traffic engineering discipline.

Required Skills and Experience


  • 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, and AASHTO guidelines.
  • Advanced proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, or similar simulation software.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Experience with traffic control device design using MUTCD.

Preferred Skills and Experience


  • MSCE or PTOE certification.
  • Experience working in multiple states.
