Job SummaryReporting to the Manager, Special Projects, the Project Coordinator (Special Projects) will estimate, plan, and execute a high volume of short-term projects safely, on time, and within scope and budget.
Responsibilities- As inquiries are received, develop cost estimates and quotations for special project demands.
- Review sites to identify potential constructability issues, safety hazards, or operational requirements.
- Attend site meetings with various stakeholders, as required.
- Prepare documentation required for scheduling and mobilization.
- Collaborate with the operations team, as well as internal and external resources, as required.
- Compile all required information to submit utility locate requests, as well as keep utility locates valid before the work is scheduled.
- Regular check-ins with Foremen pre and post job hand-off.
- Troubleshoot on-site issues with assistance from the Project Manager and promptly communicate any incidents to the Project Manager to ensure workflow and project deliverables are met.
- Complete forecasting (short and long term) requirements to ensure proper resources are maintained.
- Ensure project folders are up-to-date with documentation related to the project, including email correspondence and site photos.
- Manage a high volume of short-term projects concurrently.
- Other tasks as assigned and required.
Qualifications- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management.
- 1+ year experience (co-operative education or internships included) within a Construction environment.
- Strong communication skills and results-oriented with a sense of urgency and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Organized, flexible, and able to adapt to changing business conditions in a fast-paced work environment.
- Demonstrated time management, scheduling, and negotiation skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) with ability to learn and maintain skillset with new technology platforms.
- Must have a clean driving record and a valid G driver’s license.
- Able to work evenings and weekends on an ad-hoc basis.
- Skills considered to be strong assets include Canadian Construction Labour Laws & Codes, previous experience in a project coordinator role, Estimating, MTO project exposure, and previous supervisory experience.
