Job summary

ONxpress Civils is seeking a Civil/Construction tech professional to support project analysis, cost reporting, and field coordination on rail and civil construction projects under Alliance agreements with Metrolinx. The role emphasizes productivity tracking, documentation, and cross-team collaboration.

The candidate should bring 2–5 years of construction experience, strong reading of drawings, and proficiency in Excel, Project, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Tech, or Construction Technology.
• 2–5 years of construction experience on large multi-disciplinary projects.
• Ability to read construction drawings and documents.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, Project, AutoCAD, and Lotus.
• Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Ability to work under pressure with a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide project analysis, data, and cost reports for month-end reconciliations.
• Support field staff and project managers in managing projects, crews, and QC.
• Track productivity and costs; report project progress to ensure timely materials delivery.
• Perform quantity take-offs; coordinate with architects, engineers, vendors, and schedules.
• Liaise with stakeholders; prepare and submit as-built drawings.
• Manage admin documentation, files, and invoicing.
• Provide technical support to field staff and customer tech support.

The ONxpress Civils Contractor General Partnership, a partnership between FCC Canada Limited and Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc., is a multidisciplinary Civils Joint Venture (CJV) team with global expertise in delivering innovative solutions for both railway and civil construction projects. Working under Alliance agreements with Metrolinx, the team is helping to modernize railway construction across the GO Transit network.

An Alliance framework, which is relatively new in Canada, is a collaborative partnership between the owner and contractor, who work together with a best-for-project mindset. By streamlining decision making, the Alliance helps ensure that high-quality work is delivered, certified, and transferred in a progressive, transparent, and risk-managed manner.

The Alliance operates with a core focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability, while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and rights-holders and contributing positively to local communities as a good neighbour. Through this collaborative approach, the Alliance is helping drive the modernization of key sections of the rail network as part of the GO Expansion Program.

What You'll Do

• Provides project analysis, data, and cost reports to management, including support for month-end reconciliations.
• Supports project Superintendent, Foremen, APMs, PMs , and field staff in managing projects, crews, and quality control processes.
• Tracks and reports on productivity, costs, and project progress, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Performs quantity take-offs, coordinates with architects, engineers, vendors, and suppliers, and integrates plans and schedules.
• Liaises with stakeholders, informs them about project schedules, and coordinates the preparation and submission of as-built drawings.
• Manages administrative documentation, maintains files and correspondence on active and completed projects, and submits invoicing.
• Communicates with customer technical support and provides technical support to field staff.

What You Bring

• Civil Engineering, Engineering Technologist, or Construction Technology Diploma/Degree/Post-grad Certificate.
• 2-5 years of construction experience, with multi-disciplinary, large-scale projects as an asset.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, AutoCAD, and Lotus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong ability to work accurately under pressure and adapt to a flexible work schedule.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Expected compensation for this role is between $70,000-$85,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.

This role is a newly created position.

This role will require occasional night shift and weekend work and will be based at our Galloway site location.
