Job summary

ONxpress Transportation Partners Inc. is seeking an experienced supervisor to lead on-site construction activities for major rail infrastructure projects. You will oversee demolition, utility installs, bridges and related structures while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 8–10 years in supervision, strong knowledge of OHSA/Construction Act, and excellent communication. Field/office flexibility, proficient MS Office, and travel to sites are expected.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years minimum in a supervisory position within construction (civil, rail, bridges, tunnels).
• Experience with Ontario OHSA and Construction Act.
• Experience with engineering tools/equipment and automated/remote tooling systems.
• Strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication; weekend/night flexibility.
• Willingness to work both in the field and in the office.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all on-site construction, demolition, utility installs, rail and bridge work.
• Help prepare materials lists, databases, testing plans, schedules, and contract docs.
• Ensure work aligns with plans, specifications and timelines.
• Keep daily records/logs per company and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor progress and adjust to meet deadlines.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure proper licenses for staff.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of systems/equipment.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for timely delivery.
• Manage on-site labor, materials and equipment efficiently.
• Ensure MOL OHSA compliance and safety plans are followed.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Job description

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.

What You’ll Do:

• Supervise all on-site activities related to construction, demolition, utility installations and experience in leading infrastructure projects including bridges, rail and structures
• Help with the preparation of supporting documentation including bill of materials, databases, testing plans, schedules, and related contract documents.
• Ensure work is carried out according to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
• Keep daily records and logs in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure timely completion.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure all workers adhere to safety standards, devise and implement site policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular project inspections and maintenance of systems and equipment.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Manage on-site resources efficiently, including labor, materials, and equipment.
• Comply with all relevant regulatory and corporate policies and procedures as well as ensure that staff have proper licenses and qualifications for the work assigned.
• Understand and abide by all Ministry of Labour (MOL) regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
• Ensure systems are in place to manage project site safety and environmental concerns (ex. Safety plan, JSA process, pre-job meetings, etc.).
• Travel to project sites as required.

What You Bring:

• 8-10 years minimum in a supervisory position within the construction industry: civil, rail, bridges, tunnels etc.
• Experience with the interpretation of and adherence with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Act.
• Experience with and understanding of Engineering tools/equipment, automated systems, remote tooling systems
• Excellent Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work the project schedule which may include weekends and/or night shifts
• Flexibility to work in both field and office

Expected compensation for this role is between $130,000-$170,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.
