Job description

A&H Steel Vancouver is a new and fast-moving company in the Maple Ridge Area. A&H Steel has been an Edmonton-based, family owned rebar business since 1970, and we have recently expanded into Vancouver. Position Summary

The Project Coordinator is a dynamic and exciting position. The Position is an integral member of the project team responsible for directing, organizing and controlling project activities, under the direction of the Projects Manager. Project duties include, but are not limited to, the maintenance of project documentation, plans and reports, managing scheduling and communication between team members and customers, coordinate materials and resources (if necessary) and producing consolidated reports.

Responsibility Area #1 – Project Operations

  • Attend project meetings and assist with determining project requirements,
  • Produce consolidated reporting for the Projects manager,
  • Use scheduling tools to monitor a projects target delivery dates,
  • Be the liaison between outside detailers and contractors - answer questions, log drawings and changes, distribute information,
  • Create, track and manage all change notices from contractors and outside detailers,
  • Coordinate delivery dates with shipping and contractor,
  • Receive calls and e-mails from field personnel to sort out clarifications or questions, and;
  • Keep the Project Manager(s) informed about project status and issues that may impact contractor relations.

Responsibility Area #2 – Financial Accountabilities

  • Evaluating each projects cost breakdown at start of project to ensure maximum profitability at the end of the project,
  • Complete small take-offs/estimates for proposed change order requests,
  • Ensure job costing sheet is up to date at all times,
  • Responsible to uphold prudent spending,
  • Responsible for monthly billing along with accounts receivable (if required).

Responsibility Area #3 – Communication & Feedback

  • Project Kick-off Meetings: Participate in project kick-off meeting
  • Project Close-out Meetings: Participate in project close-out meeting
  • Alignment Meetings - Daily: Provide a snapshot of your daily activities during morning scrum.
  • Project Forecast and Unbilled Revenue Meetings – Bi-weekly: Participate in and provide update on assigned projects during the bi-weekly forecast meeting.
  • Participate in and provide update on assigned projects during the bi-weekly unbilled revenue meeting.
  • Project Site Meetings: Participate in project-specific meetings as required.

  • Ensure all staff adhere to A&H Steel’s Health, Safety and Environment practices and procedures.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications,
  • Previous construction experience with intermediate knowledge of construction drawings,
  • Previous engagement on a project support team,
  • Previous experience participating in the planning and completing of medium to large projects,
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Office,
  • Proficient in MS Project or other scheduling program,
  • Strong attention to detail,
  • Strong verbal and written communication,
  • Efficient organizational and time management skills,
  • Ability to collaborate, prioritize and problem solve,
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service,
  • Strong team player.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma or Degree in either Architectural Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Project Management or similar.
  • Courses that include work placements are advantageous.
  • 1 - 5 years of related experience in project coordination.

Compensation and Benefits ($60,000.00 - $75,000.00 Annual Salary)
