Job summary

ATCO Structures in Grimsby, Ontario seeks a Project Coordinator to help plan, scope and estimate opportunities. You will collaborate with the Business Development team to prepare technically sound proposals for PMC pursuits and help position us for contract awards.

We require a degree or technical diploma in engineering, with at least 2 years in construction PM, and familiarity with design-build, permitting, and scheduling tools like MS Project and Procore.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or technical diploma required or in progress toward designation.
  • Minimum 2 years in construction project management or coordination with large builds.
  • Experience with design-build projects and managing consultant teams.
  • Familiar with permitting, cost estimation, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Experience in MasterFormat structure for cost coding and estimating.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Project, Procore, SharePoint and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Business Development to plan and price opportunities.
  • Prepare technical, cost‑effective proposals for PMC pursuits.
  • Attend pre‑bid site visits and develop RFP documents.
  • Create and manage schedules, scopes, and responsibility matrices.
  • Perform cost analysis, bid analysis, and final estimates.
  • Develop project startup documents and handover to execution team.
  • Uphold ATCO HSE standards and quality across projects.
  • Interact with clients and suppliers to ensure a positive experience.

Reporting to the Manager, Preconstruction Services, the Project Coordinator plays a key role in planning, scoping and estimating project opportunities. You will collaborate closely with the Business Development team to prepare well‑designed, technically sound and cost‑effective proposals for PMC pursuits, helping position the organization for successful contract awards. This is a full‑time, permanent, in‑office position in Grimsby, Ontario.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Business Development Managers to understand project and client needs and limitations.
  • Plan the opportunity response approach by establishing internal responsibilities and delivery timelines.
  • Attend pre-bid site visits as required.
  • Develop and issue Request for Proposal documents for both internal departments and external subcontractors and consultants (Scope of Work, Schedule, etc.).
  • Develop and issue Division of Responsibility documents.
  • Tender all site installation scopes including bid analysis and carry/award recommendations.
  • Complete scope gap analysis to eliminate missed scope or scope overlap.
  • Collect all project pricing and compile the total project estimate for review and submission.
  • Develop conceptual project schedules (MS Project or Primavera) for bid submission and revision as required at award.
  • Build construction estimates from the ground up based on conceptual project floor plans.
  • Review and provide comments on construction contracts.
  • Upon project award, complete all internal project startup documents and handover to the Project Execution Team.
  • Champion a culture of safety and quality in compliance with ATCO’s HSE policies and procedures.
  • This role faces both internally and externally, ensuring a positive client experience from start to finish.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other tasks assigned.
Who You Are
  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical diploma, PEng, CET, CTech, PTech, or RET Preferred, or working toward designation.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in construction project management or coordination with a proven record of delivering large building projects in both urban and rural settings.
  • Design Build or construction management experience with knowledge of managing consultant teams is preferred
  • Familiarity with contract negotiations, estimating, scheduling and financial planning of design-build projects.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes (SPA/DP, BP, trades, etc.) and National Building Code.
  • Experience working in Master Format Division structure for cost coding and estimating.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, building rapport and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in MS Project, MS Office, SharePoint, Teams, Procore,
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, presentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills at multiple levels: client/owner representative, construction site.
  • Comfortable with occasional travel to remote project sites.
