Mission

Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is looking to hire a Project Coordinator based in West Kootenay, BC.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordination of all site activities and is deemed as the site designate. A Project Coordinator is responsible for all communications and requests from the owner and/or consultant, subcontractors, Project Managers and Superintendents. The Project Coordinator is tasked with monitoring and communicating compliance and non-compliance of quality control measures for field processes to ensure workmanship quality and records are kept for all projects.

Main Responsibilities

1. Responsible for project file set up and activity cost coding, preparation and distribution of job packages to facilitate field operations, maintain safety and other project documentation in file.
2. Monitor sub-contractors for compliance, including review and enforcement of Sub-Contractor Checklist (current utility locates, proper PPE etc.) and report any violations to the Manager.
3. Responsible for supporting and leading all aspects of the company safety program and regulations. This includes completing formal safety inspections and reports as required.
4. Ensure sub-contractor is performing their scope of work to design standards and specifications.
5. Maintain up to date utility locates to ensure site is ready for company personnel (ensure Subs have their own).
6. Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
7. Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
8. Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.
9. Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
10. Develop and implement quality control programs.
11. Represent the company in business services and union contracts negotiation.
12. Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
13. Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
14. Acts as a company representative at all site meetings and as a point of contact for field level questions regarding a project.
15. Responsible for collection and confirmation of field quantities for month end progress submissions.
16. Collect and record valuable information regarding the execution of a project and issues during construction.
17. Responsible for weekly collection of project costing updates.
18. Project estimating responsibilities as required including maintaining tendered and negotiated changes.
19. Maintain an accurate project budget with regard to Change orders.
20. Maintain up to date short term work schedules of the active projects he/she is involved in.
21. Participate, accept and adopt the principles described in the company safety program.
22. Perform duties safely around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing work.
23. Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
24. Other duties as required.

Employment Requirements

1. Ability to understand construction drawings and specifications.
2. Knowledge of construction equipment, materials and processes.
3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc.).
4. Knowledge of or ability to learn estimating software including Heavy Job and Heavy Bid.
5. Strong management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
6. Committed to enforcing company policies and procedures.
7. High level of time management, independent judgment and reasoning.
8. Ability to exercise cost control measures.

Compensation Data

The anticipated salary range for this position is $68,063 - $83,188. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
