The Opportunity

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, we are seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support our Winnipeg projects.

What you'll do here:

Project Controls Systems & Tools

• Provide project control support (communication, training) to estimating and construction teams to ensure proper implementation and utilization of project controls systems.
• Develop, establish, and maintain project cost/control systems.
• Assist in evaluating and documenting processes and procedures for project teams.
• Contribute to improvements/modifications to Aecon’s project controls policies & guidelines.
• Support review of tenders, proposals, and contracts to ensure all commercial and reporting requirements are met.
• Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to align project estimates with controls requirements.
• Assist in setting up project WBS, cost codes, and baseline budgets.
• Contribute to producing detailed, resource-loaded project schedules.

Progress & Cost Tracking

• Create project status and forecast reports for management and clients.
• Analyze reporting data and suggest corrective actions to maintain performance.
• Support understanding and proper use of project cost structures by the project team.
• Prepare and update project cash flows throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support change management processes in compliance with contracts and company procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Collaborate with estimators, project managers, finance, operations, and management teams.
• Communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and external partners as needed.

What you bring to the team:

• Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering technology, or EIT.
• 3-5 years of direct project controls experience.
• Construction experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
